‘I love you too,’ Meena said, returning his kiss with a freedom and a passion she never remembered feeling before. ‘We haven’t taken the easy way here,’ she added eventually when Guy’s arms had loosened to a comfortable weight around her waist and her cheek had found a spot to rest on his breastbone.
‘I don’t care how we got here,’ Guy murmured into her hair, tightening his arms around her for a second. ‘I just care that we did. I’m glad that I’m old enough and wise enough to know that I would give anything for this, for you.’
Meena looked up at Guy, at the heartfelt love in his expression, and smiled. ‘All you have to give me is yourself.’
‘Well, that,’ Guy said between kisses, ‘is easy. You have me. You’ve always had me.’
