Someplace perfect.

But here and now, it’s just me and Will against the world. That’s all I need to think about. As the music begins, we sway in time, locked in one another’s arms as we dance.

Will looks at me like I’m the only woman in the world.

“I can’t believe this day has finally come. I’ve been waiting a long time to have our first dance on our wedding day,” he murmurs in my ear. I smile, staring around at all the smiling faces in the room. My mom has brought my stepdad with her, smiling proudly at me like she always does. Dad is here with a date, but he’s here for me, for Will. He’s learned the art of showing up for his daughter. Sure, it took him twenty-one years, but we’re finally on a good level. Our relationship is stronger than ever. All because I fell in love with his neighbor and turned our lives upside down.

I turn my gaze back to Will because even though I love all of the people in this room, they’re just white noise when he’s around. My handsome hunk of a man, the one person on earth I’d be willing to sacrifice everything for. I almost sacrificed my relationship with my dad to be with him. But it would’ve been worth it because Will isn’t like any other person in the world. He’s my soulmate. He’s the father of my child and all my future children. And now, he’s my husband. And today, in front of all our friends and family, he promised to love me for as long as we both shall live. He promised to protect me, to make sure I’m never alone, to be by my side whenever I need him.

But the thing is, I need him all the time. When we’re apart, I feel like I can barely function. He’s as important to my life as my organs. He keeps air in my lungs and my heart beating. He keeps my brain ticking over. And the latter, of course, is vital to my writing. Since I met him, my writing career has really taken off. I finished my schooling and immediately self-published a set of stories inspired by him. They took off online, and now I’m in talks with some major publishers about my further publications.

All thanks to him.

He’s the catalyst, the cure for all my ailments. He came into my life and made it better. Now, whenever I look into his icy blue eyes, I feel so damn lucky. I feel the weight of the knowledge that he’s what keeps me on cloud nine. Without him, none of this would be possible. I lean my cheek against his chest as we dance. I don’t ever want to let him go. I could dance forever with him, his strong arms holding me close. This is how love should be. This is everything I could’ve asked for and more.

“Baby?”

I glance up at Will. “Yes?”

“You seemed like you were drifting away, everything okay?”

I smile. “Yes, just lost in daydreams of you.”

He puts a finger under my chin, tilting my face up. “Well, I’m right here. You don’t need to daydream. I’m not going anywhere. Be in this moment with me.”

I do as he asks, gazing deeply into his eyes. Those eyes…I was hooked on them from the moment we met. And now, I see so much more in them. So much love, and lust. So much patience and kindness. In the eyes of my lover, my husband, I see everything I’ve ever wanted.

And I never want to look away.

Extended Epilogue

Three years later…

Will

Mornings, where I wake to silence, are rare. Since having kids, there aren’t many mornings that aren’t filled with crying or toddlers laughing loudly somewhere in the house. And as much as I love every day with my children, it’s nice to wake to the quiet, only the birds singing, and the sound of my beautiful wife sleeping soundly beside me.

I watch Elle sleep, feeling like the luckiest man in the world. I still can’t believe she agreed to be mine almost four years ago. I knew from the moment I met her just how special she was, and I’ve been in awe of her ever since. Her auburn hair spills over the pillow, and her naked curves are only covered by a small part of our sheets. My cock immediately rises at the sight of her. In fact, I don’t know of any man that could possibly lie beside her in bed without getting hard. She’s just so perfect.

And she’s all mine.

She stirs slightly, instinctively moving closer to me as she sleeps. We’re drawn to one another, even as we sleep. I kiss the top of her head, pulling her slowly close. I don’t want to wake her when she looks so peaceful, despite my raging desire to fuck her this morning. She works so hard between looking after the kids and writing her stories. She’s the most incredible woman I’ve ever known, always working on something new, finding time for everyone that relies on her, and being available to me when I need her. Our sex life has never dwindled, and we make love every chance we get, even when we’re both bone tired. We’re so obsessed with one another, we can’t miss a day. Always finding time to make love in some way, no matter what.
