He entered the room slowly. “Can I come in?”

She scoffed. “Why not? I guess modesty is a little beyond the point now, isn’t it?”

He sat down on the bed, his thigh nudging hers.

She edged away. “Don’t touch me.”

“All right.” He sighed. “I really am sorry. There’s no excuse. It’s just, you’re so beautiful and so fucking hot. The fact that you thought I couldn’t understand you really turned me on.”

“Well, now I know you can, so you don’t need to be turned on anymore.” She looked away.

“Come on.” He touched her forearm. “You’re amazing. I can’t help but be turned on. I’m hard for you right now.”

Her nipples tightened against the crisp cotton of her blouse. Traitorous body. She said nothing.

“Don’t be like this. We’re combustible together. You felt it. I know you did.”

Again she said nothing.

“I got into it. It became like a fantasy. After a while, I just started speaking Korean. It was like I really couldn’t understand you.”

“But you did,” Allison said. “You understood every word I said. Every horrible dirty word.”

“God, honey, it wasn’t horrible. It was awesome. It was so hot. Hotter than anything I’ve ever experienced.”

She fell backward onto the bed and covered her eyes with her arm. “Just go away.”

“Allison…”

“Now, Dylan. I don’t want to talk to you.”

He sighed. “Okay. You take a shower. Relax. I’ll make us some dinner. Then we’ll talk.”

Shower. Dinner. Then we’ll talk. Fuck him anyway.

Although a shower did sound good. She was tired and sweaty. And mad as hell. She got up, shut the door to the bedroom, and looked around, opening one door and finding a clothes closet, and then another that led to a bathroom. From the bathroom, she opened yet another door, which led to another bedroom. Who else lived here? She closed the door quickly, pressed the lock, and went back into the bedroom to retrieve what she needed.

When she opened the shower stall she gasped. A steam shower! Perfect. She turned the knob and the whoosh of the water and the hiss of the steam sang in her ears. Once the stall was filled with fog, she stepped in. After several minutes of letting the water trickle over her, she scrubbed her body and hair. By the time she turned off the shower, she felt like a new woman. She dried off and dressed in her emerald green silk pa

jamas—baggy lounging bottoms and a revealing camisole that didn’t quite hit the waistband of the pants. They were the only pajamas she had brought, and she didn’t feel like getting into clean clothes. She wanted to relax. She toweled her hair dry and combed it, letting it fall in long wet ringlets around her face. She breathed deeply before entering the living area.

Dylan was in the small kitchen bent over a pan, his ass looking delectable in low slung jeans. Damn him. The sound of sizzling meat made her mouth water. She inhaled. Mmm. Garlic and spices.

“Smells good,” she said.

He turned and stared at her. “Wow. You look fantastic.”

“My hair’s wet, and I’m in my pajamas.”

“Honey, with your thick dark hair and those pretty hazel eyes, you’d be hot no matter what. Hungry?”

Damn it. His words got to her. Her cheeks heated. “Yeah, I am. What is it?”

“Bulgogi.” He nodded to the small oak table. “Have a seat.”

She complied. A plate of lettuce leaves was already on the table, along with bowl of thick red sauce, a plate of mushrooms, and several other dishes she didn’t recognize. She recognized the the cabbage dish. Kimchi. Something she knew.

Dylan brought over a platter of steaming meat and set it between their two places. “It’s sirloin marinated in soy sauce and sugar. I add a little garlic and scallions too.”
