“No, but you know how it is in bands.” Deacon reached across the table to cover his wife’s hand with his own. “It’s not exactly unusual.”

“Especially not in your band. Bunch of horndogs.”

“Ours isn’t any worse than many others. Or the world in general.”

Harper shut her eyes, then shook her head. “Look, I know that. I’m not a prude. Honestly, I’m not. I know how stuff works, and normally, I don’t care what people do in their bedrooms. But you, Rand?” Her eyes popped open. “That doesn’t sound like you at all.”

“I suppose it doesn’t.”

“Everyone experiments now and then,” Deak said, squeezing her fingers. “No big deal.”

It would’ve taken nothing at all to leave it at that. Let Harper think he’d experimented a time or two with Juliet and some other faceless dude, and hey, good Os for all, end of story.

If he hadn’t already had to lie by omission so much lately due to those magazine photos, maybe he could’ve pulled it off. Or perhaps not, since this was his sister. The person closest to him in the entire world.

He didn’t want to lie to her too.

“It’s not like that. I guess it was at first, but somewhere along the way, things changed.” Randy scraped a hand through his hair. “We’ve been together for a month, the three of us. I don’t want it to change. Something about it feels right. And yes, I know that probably sounds crazy, and not like me, but it’s my reality. I’m not in any hurry for this to end, but it has to.”

Didn’t it?

Harper stared at him for so long he nearly started to fidget. “What other guy? Do I know him?”

There was keeping the secret for Tris and Juliet, and then there was not being open with someone who was important to him—and who he knew for certain that he could trust. “Tristan Eves.”

“The guy you live with.”

“Yeah. He’s my best friend.”

“And you share—you share girls.”

“Not girls. We’ve never done anything like this before. We share Juliet. And she shares us.”

Was it possible for ears to spontaneously incinerate? Because his felt like they were three-hundred degrees.

“On like a permanent basis. Not just the occasional hookup,” Deacon clarified.

“Yeah. Well, as permanent as a month is. We’ve been separated too. That’s what the photos were about. Tris wasn’t with us, but Juliet and I still…” He wasn’t going to resort to using the phrase “you know.” He absolutely was not. “You know.”

Okay, so yes, he was.

“So maybe it’ll be you two then. Once you guys burn the sex out of your systems, maybe you and Juliet will—”

“Fall into a normal relationship with just each other so no one else gets too uncomfortable?” Suddenly, Randy couldn’t sit any longer. He stood and shoved in his chair. “Sorry, not going to happen. Tristan is a part of us. He’s not just another dick to fill in when I get tired.”

“Randy, keep your voice down. Do you want Lex to hear?”

“No, of course not. God forbid she learns of her uncle’s debauchery.” He knew full well he was being ridiculous, and he’d probably feel guilty for jumping down Harper’s throat later, but right now, he was pissed.

What was the big deal? So it was non-traditional. If they were happy, didn’t that count for something?

Yes, it damn well did. And it was time he stopped hiding and denying that, even to himself.

Especially to himself.

“Something about us just works.” He gripped the back of the chair. “I know it seems out there and probably ripe to become a disaster. Maybe it will. I can’t see into the future. All I know is we started things on a lark, and somehow here we are. I can’t see myself without Juliet. Or Tristan. And I don’t know what that means.”

“It means you love them,” Deacon said, shooting a quelling glance at Harper. She only nodded and pressed
