Tenderly, he slid his finger out of her. Her body clutched at him, never wanting to let go. He brushed a soft kiss over her inner thigh, making her clit throb all over again just from the closeness of his mouth. Especially when he leaned down, so close to her slit, and slid his tongue along the web of his fingers, tasting the glistening wetness she’d left behind on his skin.

She trembled, raking her nails over his shoulder as she yanked him up and crashed her mouth onto his. Except the kiss wasn’t messy and unpracticed like earlier. Or maybe it still was, but it didn’t matter. She could taste the salty tang on his lips that she was pretty sure was herself, and as their tongues tangled, he groaned and gripped a handful of her hair.

“Come to bed with me.” He tugged down her shirt as he moved back. “To sleep. I want to hold you. Is that okay?”

Cupping his cheek, she touched her lips to his one more time. “Yes. I would love that.”

He started to stand and she stopped him by placing a hand on his scruffy jaw. “Thank you, West.”

His smile was almost bashful as he kissed her abused knuckles. “Thank you too.”

“For what?”

“For trusting me with something precious.”

Swallowing hard, she nodded. “Right now, it feels precious. I feel that way too. Because of you. And I better go to sleep before I say something I want to kick my own ass for in the morning.”

Rising, he grinned and held out his hand. “My bunk awaits.”

Chapter Seven

West grunted. Why the fuck were there birds in his goddamn bunk? These damn coffins were soundproofed. Well, mostly soundproofed. And thank God for it. Ryan talked in his goddamn sleep. Not just mumbled, whole fucking conversations.

And now birds? And flashes of light?

The sounds faded and he drifted back to sleep only to have a flock of them start again. Angry birds.

Phone.

Fuck.

He reached above his head to the little shelf in his bunk. It was a charger station and storage area. He’d stashed Lauren’s phone in there in the middle of the night. The outline of her phone was still dented into his thigh from falling asleep with her.

With her.

He peeled his eyes open as her phone flashed again. She was still here. Her blond hair was tangled between them and her ass was bumped up against his hip. He rolled over to reach up for her phone and flicked the mute button along the side of her iPhone.

He tucked his chin into her neck. “Someone wants to talk to you really badly.”

Three guesses who that was. Her dude. The one she didn’t talk about.

The one who might be a serious impediment to what had gone down between them last night.

He should’ve asked more questions. Demanded the answers. But when a smart, sweet, beautiful girl wanted you to give her what she claimed was her first orgasm, it was hard to be rational.

Emphasis on hard.

She sighed and wiggled back against him. He winced, sucking back a groan in the darkness. A little involuntary morning wood reminded him just how much wiggling she’d done in his bunk last night. And there was no relief in sight for him.

Truly, he was fine with it.

He rather enjoyed his lessons last night with Lauren. Hell, the whole evening. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had such a normal night. No A-list parties, or people trying to prove they were A-listers, no record executives giving false promises, no big fish stories from bands on the rise. Just laughter and arcade games and bowling and pizza with the bright, funny woman who was still in his arms.

She stiffened and inched away from him.

“It’s okay.” West curled his arm around her waist. The weight of her breasts on his arm was far more comfortable than it should’ve been. He was tempted to slip under the cotton and wake her up a little more thoroughly. He’d gotten off on worshiping her tits as much as she had.

She nodded. “Yes. I’m ready.”
