The ride to their room was interminable. He wanted to be clever and drag her into his arms. But every playful move sounded idiotic. He just wanted to get her behind a door and get her under him.

He was starving for her.

And if he didn’t miss his guess, she was in the same state.

His fingers shook as he jammed the keycard into the lock. It took two tries, but then they were in. They both stood in the doorway. Sun blasted through the dual windows.

There was nothing shielding them from the early afternoon rays. The fog had been trampled by sun. It glinted off the high gloss pieces in the room. Golden curtains and warm walls were along his periphery.

But all he really saw was the bed.

The nerves that had followed him into the hotel dissolved.

A huge, perfect bed was all he noticed. Oh, and the space. No one else around.

Just them.

Chapter Thirteen

She’d walked into the sun.

Lauren checked out the room, more than a little shocke

d this was her life. Anytime she would wake up, orgasmless and alone as she’d been before.

Except she kept blinking and blinking and the picture never changed.

Light bathed every corner of the suite, glinting off the gold around the ornate mirror and lamps. Even the heavy curtains were a gold brocade that made the place seem to sparkle.

Maybe that was just her.

“Come here.” West slid his hand under her hair and cupped the back of her neck, drawing her to him so fast she gasped. Not from fear. There were no nerves with this man. She didn’t understand why.

Just…greed. So much greed.

Her hands met his muscled chest, her fingers curling in at the first touch of his mouth. He was always so careful for their first kisses. So gentle as he parted her lips and requested entrance. Then that catch in his breath as he went deeper, pressing his fingers into the back of her neck so he could tilt her and take.

They wouldn’t be stopping this time.

She drew back and tugged off her top, tossing it on a nearby chair. His eyes unfocused and it made it so much easier to reach back to undo the clasp of her bra, to let the straps fall down her arms so that she was exposed. The lacy cotton dropped to her feet and the reverence on his face made her knees wobble.

“So lovely.”

Even that word choice made her weak. He’d get dirtier and rougher as they went, and she loved that too. Craved every experience. But the appreciation in his voice, in his expression went miles to bolstering her confidence.

She wasn’t afraid, but she could be shy. Not today. Her first time wouldn’t hold a single regret.

She undid the button and zipper on her pants and pushed them down, pausing to kick off the sneakers he’d bought her. She left on the rainbow socks though. “Toes get cold,” she explained before she shoved her pants and cotton panties off the rest of the way.

He slid his hands in his back pockets and smiled down at her socks, lifting his gaze up her body so slowly and leaving heat in his wake. She squirmed under his careful perusal between her legs, staring so thoroughly that she swore he’d know the placement of every freckle and mole.

“Turn around,” he said huskily.

She picked up the rest of her clothes and tossed them on the chair with her shirt, pivoting the way he’d asked. That same give in his breathing had her trembling as she reached up to lift and shake out her hair. Not a sexy dance, not anything creative or seductive. Just letting him look his fill.

The same as she would do very soon.

He stepped forward and gripped her hips in his big hands, rocking into her while he nuzzled her shoulder. On down her arm, lifting it and ducking underneath so he could take her breast in his mouth. Hungrily. Her nipples were already so tight from the room’s air conditioning and pure adrenaline, and the flick of his tongue over her made her grip his hair in shaking fingers. She pulled out clumps from his loose bun, leaving them to fall into his face, but his gaze remained on hers, the intensity so high that she couldn’t break their stare.
