It’s soon time for the vows. Wade opts to go first, looking deep into my eyes.

“Harmony, you’ve changed everything for me. You are music to my ears, just like your name. You made my house into a home. You showed me love like I’ve never known. And for that, I’ll be forever grateful to you. Now, I get to make you my wife, and I can’t wait to share a future with you. I can’t wait to be married, to have a whole house full of children, to get to know every single part of you. Falling in love with you was the quickest, easiest thing I’ve ever done. Now, I know my life with you will be a perfect dream.”

I smile at him, my cheeks flushed red as everyone ahh’s at his speech. I didn’t prepare anything specific to say, knowing that all I need to do is speak from the heart. I squeeze his hands in mine.

“Wade, I know that many people will look at us and judge the relationship we have. I know that in the eyes of society, we don’t follow all the rules. But I don’t care about that. I’ll break every rule in the book if it means being with you. You have changed my life for the better since I met you, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You’ve taught me to follow my passions, to love deeply, and to savor every moment of life. I think back to a few weeks ago, and it felt then like I was just drifting through life. Now, I walk through it with purpose, with you right there beside me. I know that our time together has been short, but it’s been so perfect that I know it’ll never end. I love you with all my heart, and I’m here ready to sign my heart away to you forever.”

The rest of the wedding is a blur. I get lost in Wade’s eyes, in his kiss, in his touch. By the time we’re leaving the church together hand in hand, I know this is the best moment of my life, and every second I spend with Wade will also be the best.

Forever is going to be the best time of my life.
