“Yes!” Hale breathed. “Oh fuck, yes. Come for me.”

He felt like he kept coming, his legs turning to noodles. When he had nothing left, he staggered away and collapsed on the bed, staring at Hale in a daze. Hale wiped his hand on his T-shirt as he walked to the bed. “That’s been building for some time, huh?”

Harrison looked completely debauched with his pants undone and his soft cock hanging out, but he didn’t care. He was too rattled from coming his brains out. He’d had a feeling anything with Hale would be good, but he’d not expected it to be that good. His brain felt scrambled.

Hale chuckled and lay down next to him. “We are fire together.”

“Fire doesn’t even come close to whatever that was,” Harrison finally got out. He’d had to search to find his words. He stared at Hale, at his attractive, thin face and messy hair and wanted to start all over again. He’d never been this into anyone in his life.

And it scared him.

He was getting attached, and they had a world-saving battle coming up where Hale might not even survive. Harrison was sure he wouldn’t survive. None of the other Keepers ever had. That thought was like a stab to the gut.

He rolled onto his side to face the man and Hale stared at him. “We probably shouldn’t have done that.”

Hale’s head jerked up and his brows snapped together over his nose. “Why not? It felt good, didn’t it?”

“Yes, it did, but it couldn’t be a worse possible time for this.”

“Well, I can’t think of a better time. We want each other, Harrison. Let’s just go with it. Do all those things you talked about. Take me in your mouth. Bend me over the bed.”

Fuck, his dick had already started reacting to those words. Those images. But he was too spent to get completely hard again. He ran his finger over Hale’s smooth jaw, unable to resist touching him for the first time. And what he told himself was the last time.

Hale’s hand came up and he twined their fingers together. “I want you,” Hale whispered. “I don’t care about finding a soul mate. It’s you I want.”

But Harrison couldn’t let him miss out. Couldn’t do that to him.

He sighed and rolled over to get up off the bed. He stood there as he fastened his pants, staring at Hale, and felt his heart tighten. A hard lump filled his throat and he tried to swallow it down. Hale lay there, with his pants undone and his hard belly on display because his shirt had ridden up. There was a smear across it from their combined releases, and it was just a reminder that he’d given in to something he shouldn’t have.

He strode to the bathroom and straightened his things on the sink. “You really should change and go back out there in case that woman is your soul mate.”

Hale shot up off the bed. “You are a stubborn, stubborn man. We have something here that needs exploring.”

Harrison closed his eyes. “That was a mistake, and I won’t let it happen again.”

Another angry noise sounded behind him. He turned to watch Hale strip off his messy T-shirt and snag another out of his bag. He pulled it over his head with jerky movements and stormed out of the hotel room as another rumble of thunder sounded.

Harrison sank onto the bed and buried his head in his hands. He was at a loss here, unsure how to continue being around Hale without wanting him. Rain started up outside, and that just fit his mood. A loud rumble of thunder shook the building.

He scraped his hands over his face, then got up to continue straightening his shampoo and shaving equipment. They wouldn’t be here long, so unpacking was probably silly, but he found comfort in his usual behavior.

The whole time, he thought about the sex with Hale. Touching him, feeling that hard cock in his hand. He wanted to do so much more to the man, wanted to kiss over that beautiful body, wanted to feel all his bare skin against his own. And yes, he wanted to fuck him. Wanted to know what it felt like to have his cock surrounded by Hale’s body. He’d bury his face in that cloud of soft hair and just take him in.

Harrison shuddered, his dick filling again. Seemed this was going to continue to be a problem, and he sure as fuck didn’t know what to do about it.

Chapter

Sixteen

They didn’t speak. They didn’t touch. Hale felt like he’d shared a hotel room with a robot. He couldn’t nudge Harrison into a discussion no matter how hard he tried. By the time they packed up and moved to the vehicles the next morning, Hale was in a state of such anger, he didn’t know what to do with it. It didn’t help that rain beat down on them relentlessly and that thunder and lightning rent the sky.
