“I was hoping to surprise him with a date night—I’ve got these tickets for The Black Bear.” The Black Bear was my ultimate favorite place to eat when I had enough cash. The place was seriously expensive, but had crazy delicacies like shark, rattlesnake, and grizzly bear on the menu.

“Oh, that sounds so fancy and romantic,” Mary cooed. “But I’m sorry, Gavin had to run out and do deliveries now that Kyle is no longer employed here.”

“Really.” Instantly I remembered Gavin’s one-punch, knocking Kyle on his ass. It was no wonder he wasn’t here, but I hoped that Gavin hadn’t gotten himself into any trouble over me.

“Yeah,” Mary sighed. “The little shit called in last night and left this long message cussing out Gavin and saying he quit.” My face must have twisted in disgust, because Mary started nodding in agreement. “I know. What a loser. To make matters worse, we don’t even have my co-worker Rene available to help.”

I shrugged in confusion. “I didn’t know that either.”

“Yeah, that’s why I called Gavin from his camping trip because Rene’s husband was admitted to the hospital. I didn’t mean to ruin your first date.”

“Oh it wasn’t—” I began, but Mary just ignored me.

“Anyways, I’ve got a great idea for those tickets.” She moved from the desk, motioning for me to follow. “Come with me, and see what you think.”

I waited nervously at the restaurant, waiting for Gavin to show up. The plan was a total surprise. Mary made sure that Gavin’s last delivery for the day was here, at the restaurant, delivery a bouquet of wildflowers to me. I made sure the bouquet was made up of fairy slipper orchids, the flower Gavin gave me only days before. That was the point of tonight— I wanted it to be all about us.

The third time the waiter came around, asking if I was ready to order, I started to get nervous. I’d advised the staff of my surprise plans, but what if Gavin was too late? Or worse, what if he never showed up? I contemplated calling his cell to see where he was at, but then the surprise would be ruined. Instead, I politely shook my head at the waiter, and hid behind my menu.

A moment later I was interrupted by a familiar voice. “Excuse me, ma’am,” Gavin said. “I believe these are for you.”

I peeked over the top of my menu and spied Gavin still in his work shirt, holding a vase of orchids. “Cher?” he said, his jaw dropping in surprise.

I made sure to put on my lowest cut lace top, paired with some skin tight capris. It was a little chilly, but totally worth it to see Gavin’s reaction.

“Surprise,” I said, smiling as he placed the vase on the table.

“I don’t understand,” he said. “Are you on a date?”

I burst out laughing. “Yes, silly. With you.”

He looked from me to the empty chair across from me, and back again, before a light bulb finally clicked on. It was nice to have the roles reversed, with me in the driver’s seat and him riding shotgun for once.

“Well are you going to join me, or what?” I asked. His smile grew as he sat in the seat across from me, then looking around the room, he leaned in close.

“I’m feeling a little underdressed in here,” he whispered.

I glanced around the room. True, most people were in dress shirts and pants, but it wasn’t as if this was a black tie restaurant. I met his gaze and smiled. “The only thing that matters is that you made it.”

After ordering, we settled into casual conversation. Gavin told me about Kyle’s phone message and Rene’s husband. By the time the food came, it felt like the old us, joking around and teasing one another. But when we were done eating our conversation turned to a more serious nature.

“I had a lot of fun last night,” I said. I slipped off my heel, reaching my foot up under the table and placing it between his legs.

Gavin’s body jerked upright, to full attention, as I rubbed his semi hard-on. It didn’t take long for it to grow and press forward against the front of his pants. He ran one of his legs against my other one, egging me on.

“I was hoping you might be free tonight?”

He nodded, quicker than usual. His eyes were eager with excitement.

“You sure you’re not too tired?” I asked, curling my toes around the top of his cock.

“Mm-hmm.” He nodded again.

“Good,” I said, “should I pay the bill now?”

Gavin’s hand shot up in the air, waving for a waiter.
