I come, biting down on his bottom lip as my release pounds through me with ecstatic force.

“I’m going to come on you,” he growls sharply. “Speak now if you’re not into that anymore.”

But I am into that—I am so, so into that—so I scoot down and take his nipple in my mouth.

“Milly,” he hisses, and a beat later his body goes rigid. Hot ropes of cum cover my skin and drip onto the sheets. I look up at him and he looks down, our eyes meeting in the half-darkness.

His brows curve upward, like he’s in pain, and my heart turns over. He reaches down to cup my breast, smearing cum over the nipple. I sigh at the tenderness of the caress, the filthiness of it.

“I like being all over you,” he murmurs.

My eyes suddenly sting. I close them, and Nate must know I’m having a moment because he wraps an arm around my waist and tugs me against him, curling me into the solid heat of his body.

I probably shouldn’t feel safe here, but I do.

We stay like that for a while. His cum dries on my skin, making it feel tight. At last he kisses my temple and says, “How about we bump that shower up a bit? You gotta be tired, but I want you nice and clean before you fall asleep.”

My heart does a backflip inside my chest. Of course he does. “Sounds nice.”

“You’re nice.”

“No, I’m not.”

“At the very least, you’ll be nice and clean when I’m done with you.”

Not only does Nate soap me up from head to toe in the shower. He also grabs a fresh set of sheets—from my closet, where he knows he’ll find them—and puts them on the bed while I brush my teeth.

I don’t bother grabbing clothes to sleep in because Nate will just take them off. Together, we climb into the clean sheets naked. His dick isn’t hard, so I’m able to admire it as it rests lazily against his thigh. The vulnerability of its velvet skin and softly curved crown makes my throat tighten.

He doesn’t try to spoon me because he knows I can’t fall asleep like that. So instead, he kisses me exactly how I loved to be kissed—his hand on my face, pinkie curled beneath my ear to tilt my mouth up to meet his—and then he tucks the blankets around me and reaches for my hand beneath them.

“Good night, sweet girl,” he murmurs.

“I’m not sweet.”

His eyes are closed, but his lips curl into a smile. “You will be when you’re covered in caramel.”

“That’s really happening?”

“Has to if we’re going to stick to the schedule tomorrow. Today. Whatever the fuck day we’re on now.” He squeezes my hand. “You’re sweet to me, baby, and right now, that’s all that matters.”

There’s that sting in my eyes again. “I learned to be sweet from you, you know.”

He cracks open an eye. “You sayin’ I softened you up?”

“In more ways than one, yeah.”

“Pervert.”

“You’re still going to eat my ass tomorrow, right?”

“Goddammit, Milly, you’re gonna get me hard again, and you need to sleep.” He closes his eyes and lets out a contented sigh. “But yes, if you must know, I have big plans for your ass in the morning. Rest up.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

Nate

It’s getting dark as Milly pulls her Mini Cooper up to the cabin. From what I can see, the porch light is on, and so are the lights in the kitchen. Good—means Silas actually dropped off Lucy when he said he would. The two of them are thick as thieves. Silas has a bad habit of kidnapping her for longer than I’d like when I ask him to dog-sit.

Milly puts the car in park. She turns her head to look at me, charged silence filling the space between us. She looks as tired as I feel with bags under her eyes and swollen, chapped lips. But those eyes—they’re different than they were when she came to the warehouse last night. They were sad then, bloodshot.

Now? They’re lit up. Alive with something I feel in my chest.

What the fuck have I done?

And when do I get to do it again?

“I know,” she says.

I blink. “You know what?”

“This is a mess.”

Tugging a hand through my hair, I glance through the windshield. I forget how easily she reads me.

I do and don’t wish Milly would stop being so fucking great.

“It is,” I say. “I’m sorry.”

She puts a hand on my thigh. “A lot has happened in the past twenty-four hours. I understand if you need some time to decompress.”

“I need time, yeah.” I search her eyes. “I’m just not sure if I need time away from you.”

Her eyes go soft, and her lips curl upward, mouth moving like she was about to say something but stopped herself just in time. “Nate.”

“Too sweet?”

She shakes her head. “Never. I just don’t know what to say. I don’t want to push you, and I don’t want to cause a scandal—you and me hooking up the same day you called off the wedding I was planning for you. Because that’s kinda icky, no? And weird.”
