“I thought you said up? We’re heading down,” J.J. said.

“Oh, shoot, I must have hit the wrong button. Once we get down, we’ll just hit the third floor.”

“The third floor? Frank is on the fifth in intensive care,” J.J. questioned.

“Always such the good detective. You’re never wrong are you, J.J.?”

“What?” J.J. asked as Janelle pulled out her weapon and aimed it at her. J.J. gasped.

“What the hell?”

“Sorry, J.J., but I need money. I don’t get paid shit being a cop. Plus you got Anthony. He was supposed to be mine. He liked you from the start and never even noticed me.”

The elevator doors opened and J.J. saw the limo as well as Dexter and Martin standing by it.

“You did this? You fucking sold me out, your friend, your fellow cop, to a bunch of rapist killers?” she yelled.

Janelle shrugged her shoulders. “Payback’s a bitch.

Janelle slammed the gun against J.J.’s temple making her fall to the ground.

Dexter approached. “You and I have some unfinished business.” He started pulling her toward the limo as Martin approached.

“You’re in for it, Jade. When we’re through with you, they won’t even be able to find all the parts.”

“Let go of me,” J.J. screamed despite the pain in her head and the blood dripping into her eye.

“Hey, where’s my money?” Janelle asked.

“Oh, we lied,” Martin said and then lifted a gun and shot Janelle in the head. J.J. gasped as Dexter attempted to get her into the car. She fought him hard, kicking him in the groin and then slugging him in the face. The gun fired again, she felt the pinch against her arm, and cried out.

“Get that bitch in here.”

She realized instantly that she was hit and that the voice she heard coming from the limo was Congressman Dooley. The police were wrong. Sandman was wrong. Dooley wasn’t where they thought. He was right here and he wanted her dead.

J.J. scrambled to run but Martin grabbed her by the hair and squeezed her arm where the blood dripped from

the wound. She cried out and fell to the ground.

“Get her in here. We’re running out of time,” the congressman said as he stepped from the limo.

“Stop fighting it. I always win. You’re not going to live after what you’ve done to me.”

“You did it to yourself. You’re a worthless piece of shit,” she yelled and Martin struck her, making her fall to the ground. Dexter kicked her in the ribs and she swung her legs around fast across the concrete to take out Martin. His gun went flying as the doors to the stairway burst open. Sirens wailed as cars came screeching through.

“Die, bitch! Die for what you’ve done,” the congressman yelled. She rolled and pointed the gun, pulling the trigger twice as the congressman pulled the trigger, too.

The bullets from his gun echoed against the concrete by her head. The congressman fell to the ground, bleeding from his throat and head. He tumbled to the ground as Martin and Dexter jumped toward her. Before they reached her, two large shadows pulled them back and threw them to the ground. Dexter and Martin were handcuffed by Conway and Calder as Brook and Lincoln fell to their knees next to her.

“Holy shit. Are you okay?” Brook asked.

“You’re hurt,” Lincoln stated as he gently moved her arm.

“Just a flesh wound. Is he dead? Did I kill him?” she asked.

Brook nodded his head. “The congressman can never hurt anyone again.”
