“So we should get going so that we have most of the day with each other. I plan on going to work tomorrow. Since you’re not going to be around there’s no point in me staying home, all I’m going to do is think of you all day anyways, pacing the floor and waiting for you to come home.” He laughed at me, letting me go. The second I let him go he took my hand and led me out of the bathroom.

Glenda was downstairs in the dining room taking a break and when she looked at me I could see that she heard everything that went on in the bathroom and I blushed slightly. I was thankful that she hadn’t sat there and embarrassed me with any comments that I was sure on the tip of her tongue.

“Have a good time you two!” She called after us when heard the front door open.

“We will!” We answered at the same time and laughed as I closed the door behind us.

Every day was going to bring a new adventure for us, I had a feeling that Luke was going to plan out most of our day trips and that was fine with me. If he had plans like going to the ocean and the beach, I could only imagine what kind of plans he was going to make for the future.

“I’m really glad that Glenda came over to see me, I wouldn’t know you even now if she had never invited me over.” He whispered as he opened the passenger side door to the convertible.

“I thank her all the time silently. She was the one who had come up with the idea and I thought it was absurd. I had no idea that it was going to work out in the end. Even when she told me that you had agreed to come to dinner I thought it was farfetched that we would get along so well.” I told him, glad that Glenda had pushed for me to ask him to dinner.

“Sometimes we just need that small push from a friend, it worked out in the end for us. I think the first thing I fell in love with when I spent dinner with you was the confidence you showed.” He pointed out as he got into the driver’s seat and started the car.

“Confidence? I was nervous as hell.” I laughed at him, my eyes growing wide. I didn’t think I had any confidence in myself that night.

“You didn’t let it show, you held yourself together well when dinner was late, every time that you talked you were sitting up straight and you didn’t look as if you had any doubts about that evening working out the way it had. It was as if you had planned it this way and promised yourself that you were going to succeed in making me yours.” Luke laughed, describing our dinner date the way he saw it.

“I must put up a good front then. I thought that it was going to be a flop from the second I told you that my father had bought the house for me. I could see that you thought he bought everything for me but he doesn’t.” I shook my head back and forth firmly.

“Why did he buy you the house?” Luke asked.

I thought I had already told him, but if I had he must’ve forgotten all about it. I didn’t want to tell him because it sounded silly but I was going to tell him because he wanted to know.

“My father wanted me to out of his house, we didn’t see eye to eye it was some stupid fight that we had. He told me to leave and I told him that I would leave but he would be the one looking for a place for me to live. I thought that he was talking out his ass and I challenged him, within a week he found me the place where I’m living now. He hired the help for me but I’m the one who pays everything. I just didn’t think that he was serious about kicking me out. My mother didn’t want me to go, she tried to get us to stop arguing with each other but I think it’s better this way. Now that I’m out on my own and can afford everything I can make my own rules, come home whenever I want to, I don’t have to rush home because someone needs me.” I pointed out to him.

“It’s the best feeling in the world.” He agreed with me, listening to everything I was telling him, hanging on every word that came out of my mouth.

“There was one thing that my father had always taught me was how to survive. My mother doesn’t really know how to do that with my father. It’s the one thing he taught me and he’s teaching me how to make it on my own even now. I thank him all the time for it though he doesn’t know it.” I shrugged my shoulders.

“I think you should call him and let him know that you’re not mad at him anymore. It sounds like all you guys need is some time together.” He suggested.

I think the reason he did suggest it to me was that he didn’

t want to see me and my father get to the point where he and his father was.

“I will only if you do the same, I feel as if there are some anger issues between you and your father and you need to sit down and talk them out. Let him know that you’re not looking to take over the business until he’s ready for you to do so. Just let him know you are doing all of this to show him that you want him to be proud of you.” I pointed a finger at him.

“That’s the next dinner date we can have then. We’re going to invite our fathers to dinner together and spend time with them. Then we can let them talk and get to know each other and see how things work out, even if they don’t like each other it doesn’t mean that affects us at all.” Luke stated as we saw the ocean come into view.

“It’s a date.” I laughed, linking my fingers through his as he pulled into the parking lot.

When I got out there was a dirt path that led down to the ocean, the sand looked soft and warm with the sun beating down on it. I took my sandals off and threw them in the car. I didn’t need them, I wanted to feel the sand between my toes while I held Luke’s hand going down the path.

We watched a seagull flying overhead and it squawked at us as if we were invading it’s privacy. We walked towards the light house that looked as if it was miles away from us but with each step we took we got closer and closer.

“This is my favorite place to go when I want to think. I always like walking out to the light house and seeing if there’s anything new out there. Whether it be a small crab or a starfish. I always find something new.” He whispered, pulling he closer to him as we walked down the ocean shore line.

I knew the more time we spent together the more we were going to like each other. I couldn’t see my future without him in it and if it wasn’t for Glenda I would still be staring at him through my windows and telling myself that tomorrow would be the day that I talked to him, knowing that it never would’ve happened if Glenda didn’t go over and invite him to dinner.

The End.
