“He’s going to kill her. Kill her to seek revenge for me killing his brother.” Ivan said and then looked at the screen.

“What is that?” Dante asked.

“What does it matter? We don’t know where he took her. He’s going to continue to torture her, to maybe even rape her and it’s all my fault. I should have placed an order of protection over her. Should have been truthful with her. I want him dead. He will die for this. By my hands, he will die for this.”

“The families know what’s going on. They are

offering their help. Whatever you need.” Dante said to him.

He looked at him, felt the scowl on his face. “Whatever I need? I fucking need to know where Volkov is. I need to know everyone that was involved with this. Everyone.”

“Ivan, word is out. No one will help Volkov. He will be cut from the families.”

“Help him? Cut from the families? No, he is going to suffer for this and then he is going to die.”

“This the video?” Falcon asked.

“Don’t look at it.” Ivan yelled and went back to the computer screen.

“Ivan, Falcon knows a lot about this stuff. Let him take a look and a listen. He could come up with something. Maybe a location, something.”

“How, Commerce?” Ivan asked.

“You never know boss, and since we don’t have anything else to go by, let me try this.” Falcon said.

“Come on Ivan, walk away from it for a little bit. Get something to eat and drink.” Commerce told him. He shook his head and walked out of the room.

Commerce followed him. When they got to the living room the other men and security moved to outside the doorway. Ivan stared out at the city skyline. His heart was heavy, the anger almost as strong as the sickness he felt for causing his beautiful sweet, Annabella all this pain.

“We’ll find her. She’s tough and…”

“Not against a monster like Volkov, Commerce. You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.” He yelled at him. Commerce exhaled and walked closer.

“I’m here for you. I know you’re scared. We all are.”

He shook his head, his teeth were clenched. “I shouldn’t have ever kissed her, wanted her when I knew this could happen. Knew she would become a target.”

“You didn’t know anything about Volkov’s plans here.”

“I know to not let down my guard. To not feel emotions or to have and show a connection, a care for anyone or anything, and I fucked that up because of Annabella.”

“You didn’t fuck anything up. You fell in love. It was instant man. I was fucking right here in the Gables the first night you laid eyes on her. The fact that she evaded getting stabbed and knocked two men, one armed on their asses, just added to your attraction to her. She’s sweet, sexy, drop dead gorgeous and perfect and that’s exactly what you deserve. What each of you deserve after what you both went through in your lives. There was a connection there.”

“And that connection will get her killed. Volkov must know about her parents, and about her surviving. He waited all this time to find my weakness, and he won. When she is dead, when her emaciated corpse is sent to me to view, how do I go on? How?”

He ran his fingers through his hair. “That is not going to happen. You don’t just have your family, your mafia helping to find her, you have the military. You have all of us. Every resource possible and we will find her.”

Someone knocked on the door. Denver peeked in. “Sorry to interrupt, but Louisa is here, and she isn’t taking any orders to leave. She wants answers.”

“I’ll handle it. You rest.” Commerce said and then headed toward the door.

Ivan pulled out his cell phone and rubbed his jaw. He had to do something, even if it was just making calls, barking orders, getting nowhere, he had to feel like he was doing something instead of standing here with his thumb up his ass while his woman suffered.

He closed his eyes and thought of her. Of how sexy she looked in that black dress the other night. How she wore those sexy undergarments for him. For him, not that monster Volkov who ripped her dress from her body and then assaulted her. The pictures more recently showing her battered skin, her ribs showing in the ten days she’s been gone. He remembered her telling him that she loved him, and he said nothing. He didn’t even get to tell her he loved her.

****

“Louisa.”
