“Shit, I have to grab the drink order for Maloney’s table.”

“Go ahead, we’ll talk more later.”

“Don’t you tell a soul about what I said.”

“I won’t.” Annabella replied and gave her a smile.

She went back to watching the bar but then caught sight of Berin passing something to a guy again. A guy she recognized and had seen here before. She knew something was up. Had seen deals of all kinds go down in different clubs she worked at and something was definitely happening here. She didn’t want to tell Lucca yet so she followed the guy through the crowd to see where he was going. When he got to the hallway he pulled out his cell phone. He didn’t even look her way as she heard him.

“Broadway and 5th street, back entrance is unlocked. The guys will be there to transport the drugs. Move fast.” She quickly turned around and then stood by the doorway, pretending to look around the crowd of people.

She wasn’t sure what to do. Did she just overhear some kind of drug deal go down? Was Berin running an operation out of here? Was he part of Griska’s group or gang or whatever the hell these people called gangster criminal families? She didn’t know. Maybe she should just keep her mouth shut, she was in enough of a jam. As she looked to the right, there was Vincent and his cousin Ranger. Both men smiled in greeting and Vincent pulled her into his arms and hugged her.

“How’s the wrist?” he asked her.

“Fine.” She replied and pulled back then Ranger kissed her hello.

“Are you looking to sit at a table? I don’t have anything right now in the regular section.”

“No, the bar is fine. We came here to see you.” She felt sick to her stomach.

“Why?” She asked with an attitude, and then crossed her arms in front of her chest.

Vincent reached out and caressed her arm smiling. “Going to do my best to try and get you to work at my club. One or two nights during the week? Special events?” he asked and raised one of his eyebrows up at her and smirked with those adorable dimples in his cheeks.

She couldn’t help but to blush and smile.

“See, she’ll think about it. Let’s both convince her.” Ranger said and placed his hand at her lower back.

“We’ll have a drink, talk salary, positions, and all that good stuff.”

“See I’m not the only one who would love you to come work for us.” Vincent said and they headed to the bar.

“Dmitri, good to see you. I’ll have a bourbon on the rocks.” Vincent said to Dmitri who was behind the bar in their section.

“I’ll take a scotch on the rocks. Thanks.” Ranger added.

“Annabella?” Dmitri asked her.

“I’m good for now.” She said.

Vincent opened his arms, hands out. “One drink as we talk business.” He pushed.

“Fine. Vodka and 7-Up, thanks.” She said and then squeezed closer as the area around them got more crowded.

“So I was thinking that maybe you would be interested in working Sunday and Wednesday. We get some parties now and then for the private rooms or even the entire place and dance floor on Sundays a lot. Wednesday is like a planning day but we also tend to get private parties too. You would be in charge of getting things together for them and providing similar things to what you probably do here for private gatherings, or special guests but on a bit bigger of a scale. You would coordinate with the managers at the club on ordering special things for the event like decorations or themed items, and stuff like that.”

“That sounds like a lot for two days. I mean I work here Thursday, Friday and Saturday, late.”

“But you’re off Monday Tuesday Wednesday and could coordinate the things needed for Sunday and even Wednesday. It’s really not as complicated as it sounds but I need someone I can count on. I had to let the last person go because they sucked at it. Got nothing but complaints and the parties were simple.”

“He’ll work things out with you so you’re not overwhelmed but compensated for your time and effort.” Ranger added.

She took a sip from her glass.

“What’s this all about?” Dmitri asked.

“We want her to come work for us at Carlotto’s just two nights, well day and night actually.” Dmitri squinted at her.
