“You doing okay after James visit?”

“I am.”

Kerry studied me for a while. He seemed reassured that I was ok.

“Well not to make matters worse but Keegan left the bag on the porch. I brought it in.”

“And…”

“She had no intention of ever looking in it.”

Can you blame her?

“I know.”

“I did.”

And. My eyes questioned him without words.

“He had put a letter in it to Keegan along with a cashier’s check for two hundred fifty thousand for her tuition. I can pay her tuition. Trying to ease a guilty conscious?” He was angry.

“You think?”

“Why?”

“You think he had a coming to Jesus sort of experience?” I asked using my mother’s favorite expression?

Kerry laughed.

“I’m floored. Thank god you told me this when I was sitting down. If she really doesn’t want it she can leave it here. He’ll be here in two days. He can deal with it.”

“There was a lovely bracelet in platinum and diamonds as well.”

“Belle picked that out. Sounds like her. You can’t buy forgiveness. Maybe they both had a coming to Jesus?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

Not really. Kick. Kick. Kick. Field Goal! Loud astonished gasp escaped from me. How can one little person create so much force? Really baby?

“You all right?” Kerry asked concern wrinkling his brow.

“I think your child just kicked a field goal in my belly.”

He raised his eyebrows questioningly.

“Here feel.” I placed his hand on my abdomen.

Kick. Kick. Kick. Another Field Goal and a happy dance!

“Good lord,” Kerry exclaimed. “Does that go on in there all the time?”

“A lot.”

He just chuckled.

“You won’t think it is so funny when he’s keeping you awake too.”

“He?”
