“That’s right.”

He doesn’t get what I’m trying to say. I’m torn with the desire for him to understand my body has never responded like this to anyone else and the common sense to keep my mouth shut and enjoy the moment.

He grinds his pelvis into mine and molten heat rushes through my veins. Moans tear out of my throat and I bite my lip to keep quiet.

“Be as loud as you want, buttercup.” He cradles my head with his hand and rubs his thumb over my bottom lip.

“Kiss me,” I whisper.

He crashes his lips against mine, stroking my tongue and sucking on my bottom lip. Our hearts slam against each other while he relentlessly drives into me. Pressed so tight together, I can hardly draw a breath. But I relish the feeling of drowning in him. Warm skin sliding against mine. Crisp hair tickling me in various places. I arch my back and lift my legs, wrapping them around his waist.

“That’s it,” he says against my mouth.

I gulp in a deep breath.

He changes the angle, hitting a spot so deep and intense, my vision fuzzes at the edges. “Gray,” I whisper, tumbling toward the edge of release. “Come with me.”

“Not yet.”

White streaks of heat blast through me, fuzzing my vision and blunting all sound except our breathing. The pleasure ripples from my center, so intense, tears leak from the corners of my eyes.

The sensation goes on and on. Gray presses his face against my neck, growling with satisfaction as his movements slow. We lay there sweating and panting in a heap of satisfied limbs.

“Jesus, I must be crushing you.” He groans and rolls to the side, but pulls me close, kissing the top of my head. “You okay?”

I tilt my head and squint at him. “I’m floating.”

“I hope that’s a good thing.”

“It is.” I roll to my side, facing him. “Can we stay here all night?”

As if the universe heard my request and wants to deny it, Gray’s phone rings.

He closes his eyes and blows out an annoyed breath. “I’m not a fan of being accessible by phone twenty-four seven,” he grumbles. “I miss the days where people had to track you down on a land line.”

As the last word leaves his mouth, his cell phone stops ringing and the black corded phone by the bed beeps.

“What the fuck?” he growls and sits up, snatching the phone off its cradle. “What?”

I can’t tell who is on the other end but happy-sounding shouting comes through. I cock my head, listening for any tell-tale party noises from the hallway. Nothing.

There’s no way the guys will let him hide in here with me all night.

“Yeah, we’ll be there. Give me a minute. For fuck’s sake.”

I roll out of bed, wincing at the stickiness between my thighs and hurry into the bathroom.

I’m about to finish my shower, when Gray pulls the door open and steps inside.

“Everything all right?” I ask.

“Yeah, just Z wondering where we are.” He rests his hands on my hips. “Do you know what you want to wear tonight?”

“Oh, yes.” I grin, eager to model my dress for Gray.

“Good.” He pats my butt. “You’ll take longer than me to get ready.”

“Are you kicking me out of the shower?”

He flashes a quick, unapologetic smile. “Kicking out is such a strong way to put it.”

I lean up and kiss his cheek.

While he finishes in the shower, I unpack my makeup bag. I didn’t bring my full arsenal but there is no way I’m running around this place bare-faced. I need as much armor as possible to boost my confidence.

The hair on the back of my neck prickles. I shift my gaze and find Gray watching me as he towels off.

“You know you don’t need all of that, right?”

I glare at him in the mirror.

He holds up one hand. “Just want you to know I think you’re beautiful no matter what.”

“I didn’t ask.”

His eyes widen and he nods once. “Noted.”

A few minutes later he returns, fully dressed. “Z asked me to meet him out back for a minute. You okay?”

“Sure.” Then I won’t feel anxious about taking so long to get ready.

He leans in and kisses my temple. “Take your time.”

The door clicks closed a few seconds later and I blow out a breath. Why am I so freaked out tonight? I’ve always known if Gray and I were together, I’d eventually have to visit down here. Freakin’ Tawny. I shouldn’t give a shit what that bitter old bag of bones thinks of me. But I just know she’ll try to humiliate me the first chance she gets.

I don’t want Gray to be sorry he patched me.

Or second-guess our relationship.

Tawny isn’t the queen bee around here anymore. Lilly is. And Lilly seems to like me. Still, I need to be prepared.

I steal a quick glance at the clock. How long will Gray be gone? Probably not that long. I skip my false lashes and layer on my waterproof mascara.
