“Are you going to?”

I want to answer with a loud yes, but the word dies on my lips, and I shake my head. “I’m not sure. I want to. But you saw how angry he got last time. Have you had a chance to talk to him?”

Mom nods. “He admitted that he regrets how the other night went. He regrets a lot of things where Aaron is concerned. But he just can’t let go of what happened with the band.”

“What do you think, Mom?”

“I love your father. But he’s the most stubborn man I’ve ever met. That’s what I think. And you want to know what else?”

“What?”

She smiles, rising to her feet, gesturing at my phone in my hand. “If you don’t answer that, you’re going to regret it.”

I look down to see that my phone is lighting up. It’s still on silent from my shift at the restaurant, a habit I can never seem to break. I swipe the screen to answer.

“Hello?”

“It’s me,” Aaron says, voice sounding deeper than usual, a little rushed, as though he’s been going crazy waiting to see me.

If that’s the case, ditto.

“I’m outside.”

“Okay, awesome. I’ll be right down.”

“I can’t wait.”

He hangs up.

Mom is smiling at me, a broad smile, like she’s never been more delighted.

I shift from foot to foot. “What?”

“The way you lit up just now, sweetness… I’ve never seen you like that. You’re crazy about him, aren’t you?”

“Yeah, I really am.”

“Then go and enjoy yourself. We can worry about the rest of it later.”

“Thanks, Mom.”

We hug and then I leave, resisting the urge to take the steps two at a time in case I trip in my short heels.

Pushing the apartment door open, I turn and walk down the street, my whole world getting brighter when I spot Aaron leaning against his car.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Aaron

I stare at her as she approaches me, her thick thighs trapped in tight jeans this time. But she looks all the sexier for it, the denim clinging to her delectable thighs.

Her top is sparkly, showing the strap of her bra, pink and enticing. It’s only a glimpse, but it has my body throbbing as she gets closer, as I think about tearing away her top and freeing those tits.

I can still taste them. I can still hear the way she moaned for me.

She walks around to the passenger side, glancing over her shoulder. My stomach drops as I realize what she’s doing.

She’s looking around to make sure her dad isn’t watching us.

Suppressing a sigh, I climb into the car. She does the same, slipping into the passenger seat, looking over at me with those wide enthralling eyes of hers.

“I’m sorry,” she murmurs, as I pull away from the curb.

“You don’t have to apologize. I understand.”

It’s the truth. I know the thought of her dad finding out must cause her anxiety to flare, but at the same time, I can’t let go of the future where we don’t have to hide, where we can go out in public together and never have to wonder if Andy’s going to see us.

Once we’re far away from the apartment building, I pull to a stop.

“What are you doing?” she asks, looking around at the residential street.

“This isn’t our destination,” I snarl. “But you’re living in a dreamland if you think I’m not giving you a kiss hello.”

Her face transforms, her eyes brighten and her smile causes cute dimples to appear in her cheeks. We lean in together, our lips magnetizing, our hunger flaring.

Our lips clash and she makes that adorable whimpering noise, familiar but no less exciting.

I’ll never stop being obsessed with her every sound, with the way her body twitches as pleasure courses through us.

With a gasp, she leans back, staring up at me with kiss swollen red lips. “I missed you so much,” she murmurs.

“I missed you too,” I growl.

She grins, looking so innocent and young and vulnerable, I almost drive to the nearest hotel and drag her into the most expensive room.

Even if she says she’s not ready.

Even if she says she doesn’t think she can do this, everything will change when I have her naked, when her womb and my seed are calling out for each other.

“I missed you more,” she says.

With a chuckle, I pull from the curb again. “So we’re playing that game, are we?”

“Are you saying I’m wrong?”

I smirk over at her. “Yes, I am. You don’t understand how much I missed you. I haven’t been able to sleep, thinking about last night. Thinking about all we shared… and all we’re going to share.”

She brushes a hand down her top, the fabric flattening against her breasts. “You make me crazy. I’ve been the same. I’m sorry I left like that last night. But it was just so much, you know? I regretted it pretty much straight away if it makes you feel any better.”
