I start medical school next year, at least I will if any decent school accepts me, and I need to focus on that. Not on any man, and especially not a man like Dallas Cooper.

I shove those thoughts away and step inside on wobbly, slightly sore legs, and make my way upstairs to my room. I can feel my face smiling like a besotted fool, and I don’t give a damn. No one has ever made me come so many times in one day before. No one has ever been so adventurous with me. And every time Coop touches me, I know I’m getting an orgasm. Of course, I’m crushing a little bit.

A very little bit.

The door opens, and Kenna appears wearing her trademark scowl.

“Come on in, Kenna.” My words are sarcastic, but she comes inside anyway. “What?”

“I know that guy. He’s a biker. He and his biker buddies come into Slice of Life all the time,” she says of the pizzeria she works at to keep Daddy off her back while she collects her trust fund. “They’re scumbags, Kels, and you need to stay far away from them. From him.”

“He’s a scumbag because he rides a motorcycle and has tattoos?”

She crosses her arms, angry that I don’t agree with her like I did when we were kids. “No, he’s a lowlife scumbag because he’s a criminal, Kelsey.”

“Like Daddy’s friend, Walter Ridgely, who fleeced tons of people out of their life savings with his Ponzi scheme?”

“Goddammit, Kels. That’s not the same, and you know it.”

I shrug and sit back against my headboard. “It’s exactly the same to me, but you’re ready to forgive Walter because he’s rich. Well, Kenna, what do you think will happen to all those future lowlifes and scumbags who might have become something else if Walter hadn’t stolen their future?”

At twenty-six, Kenna is happy to work a minimum wage job while she collects ten grand a month to live on, all while judging the people who have to survive on her weekly wage. She shakes her head at my words.

“Don’t act stupid, Kelsey. It’s beneath you. Just stay away from that guy and his friends or I’ll tell Mom and Daddy.”

She folds her arms over her chest, and I laugh.

“You sound like the thirteen-year-old girl you used to be, Kenna. Are you still salty that I got invited to all the parties, and you didn’t? Do you know why? Cause you’re a fucking buzzkill. Now, leave me alone. Tattletale.”

“I’m looking out for you. That’s what big sisters do.”

I nod because she has always tried to protect me, even if her efforts are usually misguided. “And I love you for looking out for me, Kenna. But I hate it when you start sounding like Daddy. He’s not perfect. He doesn’t know everything, and his friends are even bigger scumbags and lowlifes than you think Coop and his friends are.”

She snorts and opens her mouth, I’m sure to make another threat.

“And if you even think of telling Daddy about Coop, I’ll tell him what really happened to his Domaine de la Romanee Conti.”

Kenna sucks in a shocked breath. “You wouldn’t.”

“Try me.” I smile and make a shooing motion. “Now get out of here. You’re ruining my fuck buzz.”

She leaves with a huff, but I only care that she’s gone. I lie down on my bed and fall asleep with thoughts of Coop running through my mind.

My body.

I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Chapter Fourteen

Coop

An hour after leaving Kelsey on her doorstep, I stand in front of her car, staring at it and frowning. The fix on her ride is easy, but I never got the chance to tell her about the problem.

My hands itch to grab my phone and tap the contact she put in this morning, but it’s just an excuse to call a girl that I can’t stop thinking about, even though I shouldn’t. I shake my hands out and with them, the urge to call Kelsey. Instead, I focus on the midnight-blue Lexus.

The battery is loose, almost deliberately, so I tighten it before making a note to ask Kelsey about it. I’m about to check the fusible links when the bay door opens and in tumbles Nova and Preacher dragging a skinny punk who looks to be in the throes of a serious addiction.

“Hey, guys.” I flash a grin when they both stop and look up at me, a matched furrow in their brows.

“Coop. What the fuck are you doing here?”

“I work here.” My gaze starts with Nova, our club medic, his clear eyes shining with relief. Preacher is just Preacher, a wide smile on his face and hell in his dark eyes. “Did you bring me a present?”

Preacher grins, nodding.

“Caught this asshole going through my tail bag. Claimed to have some information if I promised not to fuck him up too bad.”
