“See, you just admitted you have the hots for him, and I’m sure as shit he has for you too, so I’m lost here what advice you need from us?” said Avery.

“You girls know how long it’s been for me, I’m petrified. What if sleeping with him ruins this fake rouse, what if one of us wants more from the other, what if h–”

“Have you heard yourself? You are over analyzing this! You can shag him senseless and walk away, a one night stand, you’ve heard of that, right?” Avery spoke over the top of her. Myla gritted her teeth but stayed silent.

“Listen babe, I’m the voice of your vagina. You need this so stop freaking out about the inevitable, just go with it, live a little and for God’s sake have some bloody fun for once in your miserable life,” Cass added.

She inhaled through her nose and exhaled loudly through her mouth, “I can do this,” Myla muttered lowly.

“See there you go. Now when you’re ready, you shave that vagina, you drink no less than half a bottle of wine for Dutch courage, then you spread those legs wide and let him take you to that euphoric place he promised. Okay?” Cass encouraged, Avery let out a bellowing laugh at their friends’ choice of words. “We can’t hear you, Myla, repeat it,” ordered Cass.

“Right, shave muff, drink wine, spread legs, then let Kai t—” A loud clearing of a throat suddenly caught Myla’s attention causing her to stop mid-sentence. She was literally frozen in shock as she watched the pair of Italian, black leather shoes walk from her peripheral and come to a standstill in front of her. Fuckity fuck! She recognized the shoes straight away, she knew exactly who it was and her hand holding her cell, began to shake uncontrollably.

“Myla? Are you there?” Avery’s voice came through the phone.

“I’ve got to go. Bye.” Myla cut the call off sharply as she battled in vain to keep some form of composure. How much had he heard? Oh God, this is not happening.

He cleared his throat again, louder, but she still couldn’t face the humiliation of looking up. Her chest became tight, like a sudden elephant had taken up residence there, her free hand felt clammy and she discreetly tried to wipe it down her side, but above all, she felt the heat of shame flow through her body like a rampant river. “I’ve been looking for you,” he stated with a slight edge to his tone.

“Ta dah, you found me,” she joked in a poor attempt at throwing the spot light away from herself.

“That I have. So, are you going to look at me now?”

With a couple of deep breaths, she pulled her lips into a smile and cast her eyes upwards over his body, finally resting on his face. He smiled and held his hand out to her and patiently waited for her to reciprocate his gesture. Rolling her eyes, she took his hand. In one swift movement, she was up on her feet and face to face with him. Releasing her hand, he pushed a tendril of hair back behind her ear and sighed. “How long were you standing there for?” She whispered, she diverted her eyes down to her hands. “How much did you hear?”

“I just got here, but don’t panic, I didn’t hear anything. Your bag gave away your hiding place,” he replied and motioned his hand towards her bag that she had dropped so clearly out in the open.

Shaking her head, she mentally slapped herself as she moved away from him and scooped up her bag. “I’m sorry for what I said to you earlier, Juliet. I was out of line and I’m sorry if I scared you.”

“You didn’t scare me,” she replied without turning around.

Quickly moving, he planted himself in front of her and lifted her chin with his finger. His dark eyes swirled with lust as he pinned them to hers, “Why have you been hiding from me then?” he whispered.

“I haven’t, I just needed some quiet time to call Avery,” she whispered unable to tear her eyes from his.

“Okay,” he replied, looking unconvinced. “I came to find you to tell you we must take a rain check on tonight, your father is insisting on a boy’s night out, a sendoff for Jack.”

“Oh.” She replied sullenly, feeling deflated.

“You sound disappointed?” He lightly trailed his thumb down her neck, his eyes still devouring every inch of her face.

Oh my, that feels so good. “Uhm …no, why …would I …be?” She stuttered trying in vain to ignore the stirrings he was setting in motion in her groin.

“Rhett, put Myla down and get in here, dude,” summoned Jack from the French doors.

“Until later, Juliet,” he sighed. Smiling he leant in and kissed her

nose before removing his hand from his tender stroking’s on her neck. She whimpered at the loss of his touch then huffed as she watched him walk away.

“What am I supposed to do tonight?”

Turning around he cocked his head, licked his lips, and smiled, “I thought you had a date with your muff and a razor?”

He heard that? Lying git!

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Pacing up and down the hallway, Myla drained the rest of her fruit juice. The constant ticking of her heels along the hardwood floor was making her agitated. Forcing herself to a sudden halt, she removed them, then took up pacing again. Kai had left over an hour ago, dressed in black ripped jeans and a navy blue short sleeved shirt, that clung to his biceps. He looked divine and smelt intoxicating as the scent of oriental and musk flooded her nasal passage when he kissed her cheek. It was all she could do not to drop to her knees and cling on to him for dear life and beg him to stay. This man is really getting under my skin.
