Cass sniggered, “It’s too sexy.”

Slamming the magazine shut she pushed it to the floor, to join the stack of other bridal magazines the three of them had already picked apart. “This is ridiculous,” snapped Avery pouring herself a mug of coffee.

“I could just make the bloody thing?” offered Myla as she rammed a sausage in her mouth and winked at Cass.

“I didn’t think you would have the time to make my dress given your work load after the success of Stephanie Franco’s dress?” Cass mumbled through a mouthful of bacon.

Myla leant across the table and ran her hand over Cass’s growing bump. “I’ll make time. Avery can cope with Stephanie’s dresses, there is only one left to be made and now Pat is working for me, she can help to free up some of my time. Besides, these maternity wedding dresses are utter shit and I know I could do so much better,” she laughed as she sat back down.

“I love what you did for Pat, Myla. It was so thoughtful, and she’s a great worker.” Avery smiled to herself as she pushed her half-eaten breakfast away.

“It was just a natural thing to do. The woman is sixty-four and had lost her shop, she couldn’t pay her rent and was on the verge of losing her home. When we went to take her the painting of her late husband, she was an utter wreck. Kai dotes on her, she’s like a nan to him.”

“Well, kudos to you babe. Talking of Pat, has Kai given you the ring back yet?” Cass asked leaning over the table and helping herself to Avery’s leftovers.

“No,” whispered Myla, “he said he isn’t ready yet,” she finished with a sigh, suddenly feeling deflated at the direction the conversation was going.

“How can he not be ready? He had tabs on you for the eight months you were apart, you got back together, declared your love for each other, he signed his apartment over to Brody and moved in here with you. You have been back together nearly a year,” Avery replied turning open mouthed, she glared at her.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” she shrugged. “He’s being a bit secretive too.”

The loud crash of cutlery against crockery crackled through the air as Cass slammed her fork down on the plate and narrowed her eyes at her, “What do you mean, secretive?”

“Twice this week I’ve walked in on him in hushed whispers on his cell phone, then he’s ended the call quickly with no goodbyes, no nothing. Yesterday he was two hours’ late home from the gallery and rushed in the door all harassed with no explanation.”

“Are you serious? Do you think he’s cheating?” Avery gasped, wide-eyed.

“I hope he fucking isn’t, else I’ll castrate the bastard!” Cass snapped.

“Good God no, but he’s up to something. Please don’t say anything to him, keep what I’ve told you quiet.” Myla mumbled. The seed of doubt Avery had planted suddenly sprouted.

“Myla Fox!” Kai’s voice roared from the floor above, followed by the thunderous steps of his feet as he descended the stairs. “Have you been using my razor again?”

Myla pursed her lips, trying to hide her laughter as he flew into the kitchen topless, with bits of tissue sporadically stuck to his chin. “Shit! Sorry I didn’t realize we had company,” he added. He stood brazenly bare chested, dripping in water, with his manhood only just covered in the smallest towel ever made.

“Fuck me, he’s going to put me into early labor,” Cass muttered causing Avery to let out a loud snort.

Moving away from the table, Myla grabbed a larger towel from the clean washing pile and headed towards him with it. “Your body is for my eyes only,” she whispered.

“You could have warned me we had company,” he whispered as he took the towel and wrapped it around him.

“Jesus, Myla. Move out the way so we can ogle him a bit more,” laughed Avery.

“Get lost you two. This one all mine,” Myla replied pulling him in for a kiss.

“Get rid of them, Juliet. Let me take you back to bed.”

“As much as I’d love too, I’ve got to see Dr. Greco in half an hour. We can rendezvous after, say back here at 2pm? I’ll grab some strawberries and cream on the way home?” She purred into his ear as she walked her nails up his chest.

He grabbed her wrist and sighed. “I’d love nothing more but I’ve got some stuff to sort out this afternoon.”

“Like what?” shouted Cass.

“Like, none of your business,” he retorted. He kissed Myla’s nose and moved away from her.

“Before I forget, I’m taking you out tonight. There’s a new dress in your wardrobe, be ready for 7pm. I love you,” he hollered over his shoulder and headed back upstairs.

Turning back round towards the girls she rolled her eyes as they both stared at her. “If I had him in my bed, I’d be permanently glued to it,” laughed Avery.
