“They are totally different. I mean, they are like the exact opposites. One is rough, the other is tender,” I winked at her.

“Do they treat you right?” Sage asked this time. I thought she wasn’t giving any attention to us but I was glad she didn’t find our conversation silly.

“Yeah, they are. They are great.”

“Do you love them?” Salem asked.

I wasn’t ready to answer that question but I knew the answer.

“Hey! That’s enough about my life. Who wants some hot chocolate?” I said as standing up. I didn’t wait for their response and went to the kitchen to prepare it anyway.

?

“Why didn’t Katia come, Salem? Have you heard anything from her?” I asked as we drank our drinks.

“She sent me a text an hour ago. She said she wasn’t feeling well.” Salem said.

“She is always so quiet. I wish she was here with us now.”

“She didn’t use to be like that. We were roommates with her a year ago and she was very chirpy. Then, she started to work in the club, for eight months now, but lately I cannot even recognize her. Something is bothering her but she won’t tell me a thing.” Salem explained. She was really concerned about her friend.

I nodded my head although I had a lot of questions. I knew I couldn’t ask further, without drawing attention to my inquisition.

“What about the guy who comes with your men?” Harley asked after a few minutes of silence.

“Guy with my men?” I frowned at her.

“Yeah, I saw a guy comes with your men every night. He looks wild. Who is he?” Harley asked and wiggled her eyebrows.

“Oh, you’re talking about Fabien.”

“Oh, is he French?” Harley asked.

“Canadian. Why are you asking about him?” I asked her cautiously.

“Because he is hot! Can you introduce us?” Harley said with a funny face.

“I don’t know him well enough, but I’ll try to find a way, okay?” I said. I couldn’t risk giving much information about Fabien because of Angel’s incident. But after all this drama was finished, I wanted to introduce them. They would be cute together.

She pouted but nodded her head to my answer.

“What about you, Sage? What’s your story?” I asked her.

“It’s too complicated for girls’ night,” she answered nonchalantly.

“C’mon, we’re pretty smart girls here,” I said.

“It’s a long story,” she laughed without humor.

“We have time,” I winked at her.

“Not enough for this,” she exhaled deeply like she was carrying a ton of burden on her shoulders.

I didn’t have anything to say after that. I didn’t want to push her when she looked upset.

“I got pregnant with someone I shouldn’t have. I killed someone, went to jail. Then, I found love. And now… I’m here, dancing in the club,” she said after a few minutes of silence.

“How?” I breathed out.
