CHAPTER 35

Anna

I shake my head in confusion as I secure the phone back in its hiding spot.

The guys are acting very weird, crabby almost. I hope they weren't fighting, I doubt that. Maybe they found something that's bad and they don't want me to know.

I double check that the phone is securely hidden. As soon as my head touches the pillow, I fall asleep.

* * *

Arguingout in the hallway wakes me up. I can hear two different voices yelling and I only recognize one of them as Marco.

The door slams open, Marco stumbles in. The guard in the hallway just shakes his head and walks away.

Marco watches me and doesn't say anything as he takes his shirt off. Oh God, I have a bad feeling, I'm so close to getting out of here.

He lays his body down over mine and doesn't say anything, doesn't even care if I protest. I can smell the nauseating stench of alcohol rolling off him.

Even in his drunk state, he’s pretty strong. He's able to rip all of the clothes off me, except for my underwear.

“Don't fucking move,” he snaps as he gets up and undresses himself.

“Please Ray, don't do this. I mean Marco.” I quickly change to the name he prefers hoping this doesn't set him off, but he's ignoring me.

He comes down and lays on top of me. Forcing his hips in between my legs. He goes to line himself up, then curses as he realizes he forgot to remove my underwear. “Fuck,” he snaps.

As he starts to rip them off, the door flies open again. Maxim, Jax and Booker come busting through. I actually cry out in relief, but they mistake it as a painful cry.

Booker and Jax rip Marco away from me as Maxim covers me up with the thin scratchy blanket I have.

Maxim removes the rope, then lifts me up in his arms, “the motherfucker is mine.”

Everyone agrees, not just because of me but also because of his sister.

As he starts to carry me out into the hall, I hear a lot of yelling, shouting and gunshots. There still must be so much fighting.

Maxim quickly works his way out the front door and sets me in the SUV. Men watch as we leave but nobody does anything. Some of our guys would nod, while Marco’s would growl.

I'm left in the car being watched by four of our security guys as Maxim runs back inside. I hear yelling for all of our men to leave, now.

Jax and Booker bring out a struggling Marco. His hands are bound, and his mouth is taped, that's why it sounds like he's making mumbling noises. They put a hood over his head, so he can't see where we're going. Like it matters he knows where we're going, they're just trying to scare him. Hopefully it works.

All of the men inside suddenly start running out, for some reason they're in a massive hurry.

Guards are jumping into vehicles and speeding away.

Maxim comes running out in a slow jog. He gets into the passenger seat and four guards climb in with him.

As we start to drive away, a huge explosion shakes the SUV. A bright light shoots in every direction. I quickly turn my head around and see Marco’s house going up in flames.

I smile, it's horrible to think that some men probably lost their lives in there, but most of them deserved it.

From the direction we're going, we're heading towards the Ivanov compound.

Maxim is still sitting in the front, not even acknowledging me. He must be dealing with what just happened.

As if he read my thoughts, his arm moves to the back seat and he grabs my hand. No words are said, this is the position we stay in until we get back to the compound.

There's something missing, something not being talked about. I've got a bad feeling. Jax, Booker and Maxim look off, distant.

It's like they're not telling me something and I'm very curious to know what it is.

“Is everyone okay?” I ask out loud before I even think about it. If one of my brothers are hurt, I want to know.

Maxim squeezes my hand tighter, “yes Anna, everyone is fine.” I released the breath that I was holding.

All of the SUV’s stay together as we quickly make our way back to Maxim's compound. No one is stopping for anything. Our main goal is just to get back and be safe.

It doesn't take very long, we're back under thirty minutes. Maxim refuses to let me walk as he carries me inside.

Instead of taking me to the room that I had before, he takes me to his and leads me to the shower. Still no words are said as he turns on the shower and helps me get in.

While I'm washing myself, Maxim leaves and then comes back with clothes. He opens the door and then kisses me softly, but sweetly then walks back out. Most likely to go over details with my brothers.

The whole situation starts to work its way back. Everything that happened. The tears and the sobs take over as I slide down the bathroom wall, clutching my legs to my chest.

I was almost raped by somebody I trusted. Someone I considered family.

After a five-minute pity party, I get up and finish my shower so I can go join everybody else.
