He could see it. The relief in her dark brown eyes. She nodded slightly.

He released her chin and cupped her face with both hands, dropping his head enough to brush his lips across hers.

If he took the kiss any deeper, he might never let her leave. “Now, get outta here before that decision’s taken away from both of us ‘cause we get caught.”

She nodded again as he released her and stepped back, unblocking her path to the door.

“Just to be clear, Tess, we can’t do this sneakin’ around shit forever. It’s best if we decide when that ends before someone else does. You get that?”

With one hand on the door knob, she glanced back at him and nodded. “Yes.”

Zero helpings of attitude and being way too cooperative. That should scare the shit out of him. “All right, go. Be careful.”

She opened the door, but before she stepped out into the dark corridor, she came to an abrupt halt.

What the fuck did she forget? He quickly glanced around his room looking for something that belonged to her. When he didn’t spot anything, he glanced back up.

“Ahhhh, fuck,” he muttered under his breath.

Cage filled the doorway, his eyes directly on Easy. His face unreadable.

Fuck, fuck, fuck!

Easy dragged his fingers through his loose hair and waited since there wasn’t much else he could do. It was too late.

They were busted.

Cage’s eyes dropped to Tessa. “Go home, Tess.”

She moved to block him from entering. “No, Cage, this has nothing to do with you. We discussed this.”

We discussed this?

What the actual fuck?

“Go the fuck home. Now,” Cage growled. His order made Easy clench his teeth together.

“Cage…”

“I’m holdin’ all the fuckin’ cards right now, Tess,” Cage warned. “Don’t make me play them.”

No, fuck that. He had no right to order her around or threaten her.

Easy stepped up to stand right behind Tessa. “Go.” He pressed a hand to the small of her back. “Gonna deal with this.”

When he gave her a little nudge, she finally slipped past Cage. Then she turned around and said, “I didn’t tell you—”

“I got this. Go.” Truth was, he didn’t have this. Not at fucking all. Easy was damn sure she forgot to tell him something really fucking important and he wasn’t sure how the fuck he was going to handle it.

He would have to wing it.

Christ.

Just when things between Tessa and him were about to change… He hoped for the better…

Yep. Reality was about to fuck him up the ass.

Without lube.

Hell, with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Like Negan’s Lucille in The Walking Dead.

Even so, he had to believe it was better to deal with Cage than Trip. All he had to do was convince his brother to keep his fucking mouth shut.

At least for now.

The club’s road captain stepped into his room and closed the door behind him. He waited a few seconds, probably to make sure Tessa had moved away from the door before he growled, “What the fuck you doin’, brother? Playin’ goddamn Russian Roulette? ‘Cause I can tell you firsthand what it feels like when you lose.”

At this point, Cage was the only current Fury member who had experienced a blanket party thrown by Judge and assisted by The Punisher.

Easy had a feeling he’d be the guest of honor at the next one. “She said she discussed somethin’ with you. What was it?”

Cage shot him a frown. “Wanna pull on some boxers or somethin’? Hard to have a serious conversation with you when your dick’s just flappin’ in the breeze.”

Easy shrugged. “Don’t gotta have this conversation at all, you could just follow Tessa home.”

Fuck Cage. If he wanted to stick his nose where it didn’t belong, Easy was leaving his dick out. If his brother didn’t like it, he should leave. It wasn’t like the man hadn’t seen Easy naked before. In fact, there was no one on that property except for the kids who hadn’t.

He wasn’t shy about his body and, fuck him, this was his goddamn room.

“Yeah, that ain’t gonna happen. Didn’t walk over here in the middle of the fuckin’ night ‘cause I needed to stretch my fuckin’ legs.”

“Well, brother, you walked over here for nothin’ then.”

Cage stared at him. “Nah, bro, I came over here to save your fuckin’ ass.”

“Don’t need savin’.”

“From where I’m standin’ sure looks like you do.”

“What’d she tell you?”

“She didn’t have to tell me shit after her ass got caught tryin’ to sneak in the back door last night.”

Jesus. And she didn’t bother to give him a fucking heads up about that. So much for the cooperation. “She told you it was me?”

“Didn’t have to. Figured it out by a process of elimination. The prez’s goddamn sister, E! We’re talkin’ about Trip, the man who’s wound so fuckin’ tightly it don’t take much for him to explode. And if… no, fuck that… when he does, who the fuck’s gonna be catchin’ all that shrapnel? Not the woman who just walked outta your room, can fuckin’ tell you that much. She’s gonna walk away from this without a goddamn scratch. You, on the other hand…” Cage put his hands on his hips, dropped his head and shook it. “Christ, brother. I get you like to chase tail, but… she’s the wrong one. You coulda picked anyone but her.”
