“Put those on and let’s roll before someone comes along and wanders,” he blew out a harsh breath, “wonders what the fuck is goin’ on.”

“Know where we’re headed from here?”

Shade nodded. “Yeah, follow me.”

Easy glanced at the ruts the BMW’s tires left in the soft ground. “Gonna have to use the van to push his cage out of the ditch first.”

“Gonna pull the van behind it and push it enough to give you traction.”

“Try not to leave any marks or dents on the bumper. Cassie will spot those right away and crush our damn nuts for fuckin’ up the new van.” Especially since she had no idea they were using it for something other than to pick up his new sled.

After Easy pulled on the hat and gloves, he slammed the van’s side door shut. When he climbed into the BMW, he whistled softly. Man, he would love to keep that cage. It had to be one of the top-of-the-line models. It sucked that they were going to dump it somewhere.

In reality, all they had to do was park it in a bad section of Baltimore and their problem would quickly resolve itself. He had no doubt the high-dollar ride would end up on blocks and in pieces. Those valuable parts would be shipped overseas, never to be seen again.

But heading into a heavily occupied city would be too risky, especially since the busy parts of Baltimore were just beginning to hop at this time of night.

Hopefully Shade had a good plan to dump it. Somewhere it wouldn’t be found for a while, at least giving them enough time to finish the job they started… Which was payback.

He put the car in Drive and the headlights from the van in the rearview mirror blinded him for a second, but disappeared as Shade slowly pulled it closer and closer.

The BMW jerked slightly as Shade pinned the van’s bumper against the sedan. Easy didn’t give a fuck if the cage got damage. A few scratches wouldn’t mean shit when the whole vehicle was being disposed of.

After a few nudges, the tires caught traction and Easy winced as the bottom of the low-riding BMW scraped on the pavement as he pulled back out onto the road. He turned on the lights and waited for Shade to take the lead. Once he did, he followed his club brother north on a few more back country roads.

About twenty minutes or so later, the van turned into a pull-off and the lights went out. Easy followed Shade’s lead and shut off the Beemer’s lights, too.

Shade jumped from the van and somehow opened an old chain-link gate that had a bunch of “no trespassing” and “danger” signs.

What the fuck?

As soon as the gates were open enough for a vehicle to fit through, Shade hopped back into the van and pulled through it. Using the moonlight and the van’s brake lights, Easy followed Shade into a semi-wooded area.

When he finally pulled to a stop, Easy parked next to him and powered down the window. Shade climbed out and came around to the driver’s side door. “Gonna sink it here.”

Easy glanced out of the windshield and saw nothing but darkness. “Where?”

Shade jerked his chin toward that nothing. “There.”

“There where?” What the fuck was Easy missing?

“The water.”

“What water?”

“On the other side of that cliff.”

Cliff?

“It’s an old quarry,” Shade explained. “Deep and cold as fuck. Too dangerous to be used for boats or swimmin’. Could even be toxic. Nobody will ever find his vehicle unless they’re lookin’ for it and they know where to look.”

Fucking genius, except for the fact the BMW probably had some fancy GPS tracking system. But by the time it was found, they’d be long gone. “Shadows give you this tidbit of info?”

“Yeah. Even told me which quarry to use.”

Damn. Easy wondered how many other vehicles and bodies the Shadows had disposed of at this location.

“Roll down the windows so it sinks faster.” As soon as Easy did that, Shade ordered, “Get out.”

Easy gladly exited the vehicle. He was not in the mood to take a midnight swim in a “bottomless” quarry. He got the willies just thinking about all the skeletons buried in that watery graveyard.

He shuddered.

Shade pulled a very thin cotton rope from the front pocket of his jeans. He slid into the BMW’s driver’s seat and Easy followed on foot as Shade pulled the vehicle up to the edge of what certainly was a cliff. With the lights off, if Shade hadn’t stopped the van, Easy might have driven right over it, not knowing it was a drop off until it was too late.

He glanced over the edge and saw how steep that drop really was. Far below him, he noticed the black as night water only because of the reflection of the moon.

“Damn,” he whispered and glanced back at Shade, now fucking with something under the steering wheel.
