“Tonight apparently. Do I need to read the text or are you going to tell me why you’re looking for me?”

“Cage said he’s watching Dyna tonight. Cassie and Judge are watching Frozen with Daisy for the millionth time and I’ll puncture my eardrums if I have to listen to Elsa and Daisy singing Let It Go in stereo one more fucking time. I think Judge has noise-cancelling earbuds in and is secretly watching something else on his phone. He’s become a pro at that.”

Easy snorted.

“Can’t be any worse than Dyna screaming her head off when I try to change the channel. Believe me, I now know how to get to Sesame Street in my sleep. I also learned my ABCs and how to count from Muppets. Thank fuck for Sesame Street,” Tessa said dryly, “or I’d be lost and illiterate.”

Smoke shot out of Easy’s nose when he laughed. “The joys of havin’ snot monkeys.”

Saylor turned back to Tess. “So anyway… Want to go to Pete’s since we both have the night free?”

“For what?” Easy asked.

Saylor shot him a look that couldn’t be misinterpreted. “What do you mean, for what? How is it any of your business?” Saylor tipped her head toward Easy but bugged her eyes out at Tessa and huffed, “He wants to know for what?”

Right before their eyes, the man’s easy-going nature quickly switched to alpha-hole. A phenomena that was rarely witnessed with him. “It’s just a goddamn question, Saylor. Don’t gotta be a bitch about it.”

“And you don’t have to be so damn nosy. Neither of us wear ‘property of’ cuts. That’s all you need to know.”

“I—”

Saylor’s palm shot up in the universal “stop talking” sign. “Nope. You don’t have a say in this.”

“You—”

“Nope.” She shook her head. “This has nothing to do with you.”

“I’m—”

“No, you’re not,” Saylor cut him off again.

“You don’t even know what the fuck I’m gonna say!” he bellowed.

Tessa winced and quickly glanced around, hoping they didn’t draw anyone else’s attention.

“We don’t need to know because whatever it is, it isn’t valid for this conversation.”

The tension between Easy and Saylor crawled up Tessa’s spine. She decided she better wade in. “It’s karaoke night.” She hoped that was true. “Speaking of ‘property of’ cuts, is Lee going?”

“No. She’s probably in the middle of getting tea-bagged, but Maddie said she’d meet us later after her shift at the motel.”

“Rev tea-bags Lee?” Easy asked, no longer sounding pissed but rather a bit impressed with that info.

Saylor stared at Tessa and rolled her eyes. “Men. So easily distracted. But no, tonight isn’t karaoke, they’re having a pool tournament. So… Fresh meat.” She shot Tessa a sly smile, rubbed her hands together and wiggled her eyebrows.

“Fresh meat?” Easy asked, now sounding annoyed.

Poor man was going to get whiplash by going through all the emotions in a span of a few minutes.

Saylor sighed, grabbed Tessa’s arm and began dragging her in the direction of cluburbia.

Tessa glanced back over her shoulder and saw Easy now on his feet with both hands on his hips. Even in the dark, she could tell he was far from happy.

She’d make it up to him later.

But in the meantime… “Why don’t we invite Brandy to go with us?”

Saylor stutter-stepped. “Brandy?” she echoed. “What the fuck for?”

“You don’t like her?”

“I like her just fine, but she’s a sweet butt.”

“So?”

“Why the fuck would we bring a sweet butt along?” Saylor asked, shaking her head and tugging on Tessa’s arm.

“To be nice?” To get her away from Easy? Or so Easy didn’t have to make himself scarce after lying to her about doing something for Trip?

Saylor stopped suddenly and turned until they faced each other. “We’ve never invited a sweet butt along. Why now? What’s the real reason? Spill, girl.”

“I already told you. To be nice.”

“Bullshit. If that was true, why not ask them all?”

“Because she… She has no one to hang out with tonight.”

Saylor glanced past Tessa at the pavilion. Was Easy still standing there? She was afraid to look.

“So… You and Easy are fucking, huh?”

Shit. “Why would you think that?”

“The way he got all up in our business like he had a reason to.”

“The guys are all protective, you know that.”

“He was also hard.”

Double shit. “You were just seeing things.”

“Yeah, his hard dick.”

“Why would you even be looking at someone’s crotch?”

Saylor shrugged. “I look at everyone’s crotch. Well, not Rev’s, of course. Or Judge’s. But everyone else? Fair game.”

Fair game?

“Look, they stare at our tits, it’s only fair we stare at their dicks. They want to judge our size, then we can judge theirs, too. But me checking out his hard-on isn’t the problem, Tess...”

It was Tessa’s turn to grab Saylor’s arm and begin dragging her farther away from the pavilion before someone overheard them. Like Easy. “There’s no problem. You’re assuming and you’re wrong.”

“Uh huh. Why wouldn’t you tell me?”
