The humans were drunk. The alcohol stunk in the air, and with her on his back, he was able to make it out of the forest undetected. When they got to their clothes, they changed quickly.

He took her hand again, aware that she wanted to slap him away, but he once again stopped her. They were stuck with each other, no matter what she tried to do.

Together, they got back to the main path and started to walk out, looking like a normal couple, a little disheveled from making out. No one would know that they’d been running naked.

They got to the cabin, and Sofia rounded on him. To silence her, he kissed her.

She shoved at him, and he had no choice but to cover her mouth with his palm. “Do not even for a second be pissed at me, Sofia. They were drunk and any mistake would have gotten us both killed.”

“They shouldn’t be hunting.”

“Yeah, but guess what, people don’t always follow the rules. They do whatever the hell they want, regardless. I wasn’t going to risk you. I will never risk your life.”

“You’re an asshole.”

“No, I am your fucking mate, Sofia.”

“That doesn’t give you the right to take control.”

“It gives me every single fucking right,” he said, growling.

Someone cleared their throat, and Caspian closed his eyes, realizing they weren’t alone.

With the single throat clearing, he smelled them, as well as a foreign body, which had him whirling around, Sofia behind him.

A snarl was on his lips.

He spotted the foreign problem. The man from the security footage sat in the center of the room.

Sean, Melissa, Raine, Liam, Books, and Simon were all guarding him.

“Before you start getting it on again,” Liam said. “Someone stumbled upon your little cabin.”

“What’s going on?” Sofia asked.

“Er, we were hoping you could tell us, because this guy, No One, that’s his name. Not what I’ve called him, said that he is your brother, twin brother, and that he has been trying to find you, to make sure you’re safe.”

That was why he looked so familiar. Caspian inhaled and frowned. There was a similar scent, not the same, but it was there.

The man stood up, and Caspian saw how skinny he was. How … unwell he looked.

“Sofia?” he asked.

“I have no idea who you are,” Sofia said.

Chapter Nine

The moment the words spilled from Sofia’s mouth, Caspian launched into action. He pushed her behind him, and a snarl rippled from his lips. His entire pack went on high alert, and she gasped as each one made a wall around her, protecting her.

She wasn’t used to this.

Each one stared off with the man who claimed to be none other than her twin, but that was impossible. She had no family.

She wasn’t quite as tall as Sean, Liam, Books, and Simon, who’d stepped in front of her, going either side of Caspian. It was impossible to see if the man’s face stirred some kind of memory.

“Whoa, whoa, stop. No, this is not what is happening here,” the man said. “I get it. You’re all protecting her.”

“You wanted to hurt her?” Caspian asked, tensing up, ready to strike.

“Hell, no. I’ve been waiting, for fuck’s sake,” the man said.

That was a bad thing to say as all of the pack began to growl. The low hum of their anger filled the air, making her hair stand on end.

“She doesn’t know who you are.” Caspian inhaled. “And I can smell the pack on you.”

“Hell fucking no,” he said. “Look, my name is George Foster. I was born one minute before Sofia. We shared a womb, but I was born without the wolf gene. They could smell how different I was, and I was forced to be separate from her. It’s why … I’m the reason they harmed her.”

Sofia frowned. “What?”

“It’s rare, but in some twin births, the male twin takes all the power. They have a keen sense of smell, and the ability to heal, and this instinct about them. What the pack didn’t realize was that I had inherited an instinct and the ability to scent for miles, while you, you had that pesky ability to heal. Also, I can’t turn into a wolf,” George said. “I can’t. I know the full moon is rising. I’m also aware that you’re close to your first heat because your mate is so very close.”

Caspian snarled.

“Right, right, right, shit, I get it. I get it, okay? Fuck. Look, I just … I’ve waited far too long for you, Sofia. You’re my sister, and I was allowed to know about you, but after our parents died, there was nothing.”

“Wait? Died?” Sofia asked. She had always suspected but had always hoped that they just got busy, or something else happened. She had no idea they had actually died. Hearing this news, she felt tears well into her eyes.
