My best-case scenario for coming over involved maybe discussing the kiss and agreeing that there was something to it. That maybe we should see each other and try to figure out where it was going. Maybe even set up another time to hang out or go out for an attempt at a date.
I certainly did not expect to be lying in her bed, both of us naked and spent, having had the most intense and mind-blowing sex of my life. Wendy was incredible, from the way she looked to the way she moved to everything else about her. Our bodies melded into one, and she was able to bring me to the most explosive orgasm I had ever experienced. It was better than any dream or fantasy.
Now, I found myself with my arm around her as she lay on my chest. She was sleeping peacefully, occasionally murmuring to herself as she dreamed. I had fallen asleep very briefly but woke up a few minutes later.
I was going to have to leave. I didn’t really want to, but I was going to have to. Not only was it awkward enough for me to stay in general, but knowing I had to get up before the sun for work and not have anything to change into left me realizing that I was going to have to bail on our first night together just as we had gotten settled in.
I shifted a little and reached for my phone, which I had thankfully grabbed and put on the nightstand. Checking the time, I then slid over to the alarm. I could afford a little bit of time. I set an alarm for an hour and a half, thinking that should be enough to get some rest while still getting me out early enough to get home and get ready for work.
When I awoke to the alarm, Wendy was sleeping peacefully beside me but curled up and facing away. I slid my arm out from under her slowly and then got out of the bed. I was able to get dressed without waking her. Part of me was tempted to roll right then, but I didn’t want her to think I was cutting out for any other reason than work. That would torpedo whatever we were building right out of the gate.
I leaned down and kissed the top of her head, and she shifted, her eyes blinking open briefly.
“Hey, I have to go home and get dressed for work,” I said. “I’m sorry to leave so early.”
She nodded.
“Okay,” she said.
“Is it okay if I come back?”
She nodded sleepily, and my heart did a tap dance in my chest.
I made my way out of the house quietly, making sure I didn’t wake up Olly in his room. Grabbing my cooler, I slipped out and shut the door behind me, making my way to my car in the deep dark of the witching hour. It was only about two hours before I needed to be at work, but that gave me plenty of time to get home and shower and change.
As I got back to my own place, I dropped the cooler and went directly to the bathroom, stripping down as I went. There was a part of me that wanted to resist showering, if nothing else other than I could still smell her on my skin. But I had a long, hard day of work ahead of me, and I didn’t want to be gross by the end of it, or at least more than I usually was.
Slipping under the hot water, I half expected that I would clear my head and suddenly realize it was all a dream. That I had made it all up while I was asleep and that I hadn’t actually gone over there. But as I got out of the shower and started to get dressed, the foggy mirror showed a mark on my neck that shattered that particular thought. At some point, Wendy had sucked on my neck hard enough to give me a hickey. It had been the first hickey I’d gotten since high school.
I laughed out loud at my reflection and shook my head. I still had an hour or so before work, so I decided to lie down in my own bed and shut my eyes. My alarm went off a little later, and I woke up with my good mood intact and feeling like I could conquer the world by sheer willpower alone.
