“This isn’t going to work for long,” I drawled, looking down between my legs to see his large, rough fingers between my pussy lips.

My vagina clenched.

Causing him to laugh.

His mouth moved until his lips were practically pressed against my ear and he said, “Knowing you’re so full of me right now that you’re leaking down your thighs makes me fucking hot.”

A delicious shiver ran down the length of my spine.

“I have an old shirt in the middle console. Can you reach it?” he asked.

I found out that I could.

When I handed it to him, he helped clean me up, then resettled my jeans into place.

Which was all wrong.

Which I told him.

He offered me a wink as he said, “Can’t say I’ve ever pulled a woman’s jeans up before. With more practice, I’ll eventually get it right.”

I snickered and shoved my hand down the front of my pants to get my thong into place, then fastened the mile of buttons down the fly before looking at him curiously.

“What are you gonna do with that?” I asked curiously.

He wiped his hand on it and then said, “I’m gonna…”

“Hey, boss,” I heard called out.

Ida.

“Yes?” he asked, turning his head toward her, but not his body.

“There’s a phone call for you. Since I noticed you were still in the parking lot, I thought you might want to take it.” Ida smiled.

I really didn’t like Ida.

“I don’t,” Price said. “I’m heading out. Just need to wash my hands and help my girl into the truck.”

“It’s the mayor…” she said.

He shrugged. “I don’t care if it’s the president of the United States.”

My lips twitched as he then helped me into the truck, fastened my seat belt for me, and then gently closed the door.

Then, instead of walking inside, he surprised me by opening the back door and pulling out a big bottle of orange goo. Apparently, it’s what people used when they didn’t have a sink to wash their hands.

It was actually pretty cool.

And effective in getting jizz off your hands without water.

My smile was firmly in place when he got in and headed toward the airport.

All the while Ida stood there and watched him go, a puzzled look on her face.

“Ida really isn’t that bad,” he promised. “And if I wasn’t so sure about her interest in Tide, I would be a little warier with how she treats people when it comes to me. But I’m telling you, when you see her around Tide, you’ll understand.”

I couldn’t stop myself from saying, “Poor Tide.”

He flashed me a grin, then rolled all the windows down, causing my hair to go… everywhere.

“And just sayin’, honey, but that little flash of jealousy you gave me? That was the best fuckin’ feeling in the world. Knowing you want me enough to let others know that I’m yours,” he said.

Then he turned the music up, and I was left thinking about just how wrong I was when I thought, even for a second, that I could ever leave him.

CHAPTER 21

You better watch out for people that bounce back from everything that’s meant to destroy them. Those are the people that will really fuck you up.

PRICE

The grin that lit Sabrina’s face was instantaneous the moment that she saw her father.

But, being in the military, something struck me as odd.

He didn’t have any gear.

Like, zero.

What he had was a suitcase that clearly held not that much.

With Daniel was his father, Daniel Senior, or DS as Sabrina had instructed me to call him.

The first hint of confusion dissipated when I saw Sabrina get out of the car and run to her dad.

She threw her arms around him and hugged him tight.

From my vantage point, however, I could see his face.

His face that clearly showed fatigue, despair, and guilt in quick succession.

He whispered something to her, and the excitement of seeing her dad for the first time in two weeks took a turn in the opposite direction of happy.

I knew instantly something was wrong.

Daniel and DS were standing beside the curb that spat them out of the airport, and neither one of them looked happy to see her.

It’d been two weeks, and it was as if they were dreading something. Something huge.

The moment that I got out of the truck and headed in their direction, I had my suspicions confirmed.

“Dad…”

“I wasn’t at my mandatory two weeks,” he said instantly, cutting her off before she could get the question finished. “I was in Chicago, getting testing done, because I have an aggressive form of cancer that’s eating away at my bones.”

I opened and closed my mouth, unsure what to say or do.

The look on Sabrina’s face was devastation incarnate.

“And your grandfather went with me because he wanted a second opinion about…”

“I have testicular cancer. I’ve decided against treatment,” DS said. “I know that you probably think I should fight, but I want to enjoy the last few months of my life. I don’t want to be sick and too tired to rock on the front porch. And the other option was for them to cut my balls off, and I want to die with my balls.”
