“No, because I know your secret, Luciana.” He returns my smile with his own devilish one.

My heart pounds, but somehow I can’t stop myself from prodding him further. “And what’s that? What’s my secret?”

“You, little miss hybrid, are addicted to danger.”

I stiffen for a moment. Is he right? “What’s make you think that?”

His hand tightens on my ass. “Because you like spending time with me.”

“Is that so?” I turn toward him so that my right thigh presses in between his legs. Then I point my toes, lifting my leg slightly so it rubs against his cock.

Sebastian’s chest rumbles like distant thunder. His pale eyes fix onto mine. “You chase the thrill of it, you crave the risk. A brush with death. The sharp feel of walking along a knife’s edge.”

I lean forward, my lips hovering a breath from his. “You think you have me all figured out, hmm?” I inhale deeply, sucking in his manly cologne. “Maybe you’re the one who’s addicted here.”

Something crosses over Sebastian’s face, but before we can reply, footsteps announce someone approaching.

“I should have known,” Aza says, a wicked grin on her face. Her eyes dart between me and Sebastian. “Of course you’re banging this one. She’s absolutely luscious.”

“Aza, how are you,” Sebastian says with a jovial smile. “Obviously you’ve met Luciana.”

“I’ve tasted her, too,” Aza says, stepping a little closer into my personal space than appropriate. “Though, not where it really counts.” Her eyes move down to my sex. “Perhaps you’ll reconsider letting her join me at one of my parties.”

Sebastian lets out a low chuckle. “Call me selfish. This one is not for sharing.”

Aza turns her head slightly, looking at something across the room. “I’m not sure your brother feels the same way about that.”

“Well, he’ll have to respect my wishes, as do you.” Sebastian pulls me tighter against him, and his tone, while still light, is laced with a threat.

“So, you’re saying you won’t obey the new leader of the Guild?” Aza’s smile is sweet, her head cocked to the side, but her voice holds a coming storm.

“I should hope,” says Sebastian, a roil of magic moving off him, “That our new leader won’t kick off their reign by angering their subjects over petty power plays. Seems to me only a weak leader would do such a thing.”

Aza laughs, her head rolling back as the sound echoes through the room. “Oh, Sebastian. Are you sure you’ve lived with demons for half a millennium? You always were a dreamer.”

Abruptly, that fire that’s been crouched inside of me ever since I woke from my coma, that darkness and that heat, comes surging to the surface.

“Perhaps,” I snarl, “I’m not going to allow myself to be a pawn in your games. I’ll choose who I’m going to fuck and for how long, and that’s the end of it.”

Sebastian tenses and Aza’s mouth pops open in surprise, her eyes flaring.

“Oh, Sebastian,” Aza says, staring at me. “Now I know why you’re so fond of this one.” She sighs, looking me up and down as if I’m a piece of candy she’s unwrapping with her mind. “I guess we’ll see what happens over the next few days.”

She turns and strides away from us. After several steps, she pauses and looks back. “Let the games begin.”
