When I climbed into the back, I found a note left on the seat. Even after all these years I recognized his handwriting.

Ride’s paid for. Get yourself ready, then at nine, be on the roof waiting.

I crumpled the slip of paper into a ball and my heart raced all the way back to River View Heights.

He wanted me on the roof at nine when the door was still unlocked? When anyone could intrude on us?

He didn’t say if he wanted me on my knees and Ronan had never been shy about letting me know what he wanted. So, this time I planned on waiting for him while standing on my two feet.

Once I got back to my apartment, my fingers trembled from a mix of nervousness and anticipation the whole time I prepped myself. Like he told me, I had eaten a light lunch a little later in the day and skipped dinner completely.

I kept going back and forth wondering if we were having dinner together or sex. I assumed the second one, but with Ronan, it could go either way. One minute he seemed to hate me and wanted to punish me for hurting him, the next I would see glimpses of the old Ronan. The one I had fallen in love with.

The man I still loved despite everything.

I sighed.

My nervousness stemmed from never bottoming before. Not with him or with any of my anonymous Grindr hookups.

Back in college, Ronan had wanted to switch and had showed me what to do to get ready. He was thorough and wasn’t shy about any of the details. While we had been working toward us switching, I always tensed up too much when it came time for me to try to be the receiver instead of the giver.

Except for when it came to head. Every chance I could I took Ronan with my mouth. I loved how it had driven him out of his mind. I loved having that power over him.

Back then, he had a lot of patience with me. Something I truly appreciated. And I did promise I would bottom for him one day.

Apparently, that day was today. Only, I wasn’t sure if I was ready.

But if it took us one step closer to him forgiving me…

I already told him I’d do anything for that to happen and that wasn’t a lie. I’d do anything to fix our relationship.

Now I needed to stick to my word and not back out no matter how much it turned me into a ball of nerves.

I only hoped he didn’t take out his anger for me on my ass. I clung to the fact that he’d always been a considerate lover and hoped that was still true.

When I stepped out onto the roof, darkness had already fallen. Even though the pool wasn’t officially closed for the night, only the lighted pool and the white string lights strung around the perimeter and along the pergolas kept the roof from being pitch black.

For two people in love, the atmosphere would be romantic.

For two people simply having sex, it was only background aesthetics.

Right now, we were the second but I hoped we’d get back to the first. It would take time and patience, but I was willing to work at it. But again, the man already waiting for me by the pool would need to want the same.

I was surprised to see him there since he had instructed me to wait for him on the roof.

Only a pair of dark silky shorts clung to his thick, powerful thighs. He wore nothing else.

I sucked in a breath at seeing his bare chest for the first time since... forever. My guess that he had more tattoos than the ones previously peeking out of his shirt sleeves had been correct. In addition to his arms, a variety of tattoos covered his chest, his shoulders and even his ribs.

I couldn’t make them all out from where I stood but hoped to have the opportunity to explore them closer at a later date if I didn’t get the chance tonight.

What I could see was he had built up a lot of muscle and I was wrong about how much. He was freaking ripped under all that ink. He looked like the ultimate bad boy. He could be a biker, a rock star, a boxer or even an MMA champion.

Any and all of the above.

I realized then that I had no idea what he did for a living since we hadn’t gotten too personal. Unlike long-time friends, we hadn’t spent time catching up for “old times’ sake.” But owning a new Range Rover like he did, he had to be doing at least okay.

Unless he was living above his means.

However, if he still had the mindset now as he had back in college, he would be very cautious with his spending. Back then he had to be.
