Chapter Ten ~ Camila

The last week had the biggest roller coaster of emotions I’d ever been on. I started on a high, spending the night with Marco and him telling me he loved me and wanted to be a family with Liam and me.

Then, he was shot and even though Antonio insisted the doctors told him he would be okay, I wouldn’t believe it until I saw him and talked to him.

I was so scared I was going to lose him after just getting him back.

I dealt with his fiance Ivana all week. She wanted me to leave but I insisted on staying. She didn’t hesitate to call Marco her finance at every chance she had. She’s lucky I didn’t punch her in the face a few times.

I’d confessed to Antonio who I was to Marco, who my son was, and what had happened between us the night before he was shot. He hadn’t been thrilled, but like the rest of us, he was worried about Marco and only wanted him to get better.

The whole time Antonio was in talking to Marco after he woke up, she stood right at the door, glaring at me. She spent every day here, but she went home at night. Of course she would come back the next day in one of her perfect outfits with her perfect hair and her perfect make up, while I was wearing the same thing all week.

She didn’t concern me; Marco would be so bored with her.

When Antonio came out and told me to go in, Ivana's mask finally broke and she freaked out. Antonio told her the engagement was off and she flipped her shit, yelling at me. Of course I yelled back, and Antonio had to separate us. He calmed her down and told me to go in by Marco.

I didn’t wait another second.

When I saw him lying there in that bed, I started crying I went to him, wanting to gather him into my arms, but he had all these tubes coming out of him and he looked so pale, I stopped short in tracks.

“Marco,” I said softly, taking his hand and sitting in the chair next to the bed. “Thank god you’re ok. They wouldn’t let me see you all week.”

He rubbed the back of my hand with his thumb. “I’m so sorry you had to deal with Ivana all week.”

“Don’t worry about me. What about you? Are you okay? Are you in pain? Can I get you anything?” I was nervous and talking a mile a minute. This strong man that was usually so intimidating to everyone around him, looked tired and weak.

“I’m okay. Better than okay now that I saw you. How’s Liam? Where is he?”

“He’s at my brother’s. My sister in law has been watching him so I could be here.”

“You didn’t have to stay here.”

I glared at him. “I just got you back. Do you think I’m going to leave your side again?”

“I talked to my brother. My engagement is off and we can be together. He gave me his blessing.” He clutched my hand.

“I know,” I smiled back at him. “What do you think that scuffle out in the hallway was about?”

Marco chuckled and shook his head. “I heard it. And almost felt sorry for Ivana. She doesn’t stand a chance next to you.”

I gave a nod. “That’s right. No one gets between me and my man.”

“Your man, huh?” He pulled me closer. “I think you should climb up on here by ‘your man’.”

I turned and looked at the door. “If the nurses caught me, they’d probably kick my ass. I don’t want to hurt you.”

He moved over on the bed, wincing slightly. “I don’t care. I need to hold you, Camila. And kiss you.”

I carefully climbed up on the bed next to him. He put his arm around me and I snuggled in, careful not to hurt him. He reached up and cupped my cheek with his hand, stroking it with his thumb.

“I love you, Camila. I’m sorry it took such a long and crazy road to get here, but you’re mine now, and I never letting you go - you or Liam. For the record, I plan to put a bunch more babies in you since I missed the first one.”

The butterflies in my stomach went into overdrive and he leaned in to kiss me. It was a long slow kiss, gentle, but when his tongue ran over the seam of my lips before teasing mine, it was full of promise.

“What are you doing on the bed?” Antonio came storming in. “Camila, I don’t think you should be up there.”

We broke apart and I went back to the chair, my face getting warm with embarrassment. I looked at Mario. “Told you so.”

He only grinned at me and then his brother. Antonio rolled his eyes. “Do you ever want to get out of here or not?”

"I do," he said, taking my hand and lacing his fingers with mine. "But I also have three years of lost time to make up for with my woman, and I'm not going to miss any minute of it. He brought my hand up to his lips and kissed the back of it.

“I don’t want to miss a minute together either. I love you, Marco Bravo.”
