“Oh, umm…” Why I’m telling this woman my life story, I have no idea, but it doesn’t stop me from continuing. “My friends got a little too excited last night apparently, and they tried to…”

“They were just excited about getting drafted,” Danny begs with his eyes to keep quiet about what they did, and while I don’t understand why, I go along with him. “And they got a little rowdy. I had to call Jenni here to release them into someone’s custody, and once she showed up, I knew I couldn’t let her go without knowing when I would see her again.”

Now his eyes are sparkling with mischief as he remembers just how I showed up last night. I feel the blush creep across my face, as he smirks in recollection.

“He was very, very excited to see me last night. He asked for my number before he would even let me sign the forms to get my friends out.” With a fake pout, I continue. “It’s like I had no choice at all.”

Then I wink at him. Me, Jenni Jacobson, is not only flirting, but winking at a guy, in a crowded diner, where everyone’s attention seems to be on us once more. I don’t even know what happened to the old me, but I’m sure liking the new me.

“I like you.” Amy declares, and it’s like the tension that I didn’t even know was present in the room disappears.

Suddenly, I’m being greeted by all the patrons of the diner, hands reach out to shake mine, names are called out. Someone even pushes Danny out of the way, despite the gruff, “What the hell?” that falls from his mouth.

It isn’t until about twenty minutes later that a bell rings from the kitchen when Amy pushes through the crowd, and herds them all back to their tables to get our meals from the kitchen. Once the crowd dissipates and returns to their meals, is when I finally see him again.

“Welcome to Lighthouse Landing, it seems they like you, so you’re probably stuck with them now.” He says with a radiant grin.
