Chapter 8

REED

Jamisonand I are in Whiskey’s, standing at the back of the room. Bryan, August, and Wesley are with us. We’re all facing the dance floor, checking out the women—already two sheets to the wind—as they bump and grind against each other. I’ve been sporting a woody for the last half hour, and from the looks of the guys, I don’t need to guess their state isn’t much better than mine.

Even Wesley, who’s been celibate until recently, keeps discreetly adjusting his hard-on. His girl, Jersey, is only nineteen and legally not allowed to drink, but I’ve seen a couple of his sisters sneakily slipping her shots. Luna is also underage, but August has been keeping a close eye on her. The only reason they were allowed in the building is because Bryan rented the space for the night for the combined bachelor/bachelorette party and promised there would be no underage drinking. So much for keeping that promise.

Jersey and Luna are more than a decade younger than the other women, but they were easily welcomed into their fold. Luna is Charlotte’s niece, but she’s only been in Silver Falls for a couple of months. Jersey’s been here even less. From the way they’re all acting, you’d think the two young girls knew the women their whole life. Jersey and Luna hit it off well and have been hanging close to each other.

“Fuck me,” Bryan groans when Charlotte presses against Rayn’s back, grabbing her around the waist so they sway to the music together. “Now that’s going to be an image I don’t have any hope of getting rid of.”

“Nope. But think of the drunken sex you’ll have when you get home. I don’t care how straight they both are, you know they’re both creaming their panties right now,” I say helpfully, earning a glare from Bryan.

“Thanks for making it worse, dick.”

I shoot him a grin full of teeth, but my playfulness is a joke. I’m suffering just as much as he is watching the women.

“Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a co-op bach party should be shot,” Jamison remarks at my side.

“That would be my fiancée you’re condemning, you ass,” Bryan says, tossing back the rest of his drink. “Can you imagine how bad they would be if we weren’t here?”

I lift my eyes from Rayn’s hands where she was running them down her hips and meet her gaze. A sexy little smirk plays on her lips, as if she knows the state she’s putting me and Jamison in. “I’m pretty sure they’re doing this shit on purpose.”

Jersey and Luna start grinding on each other, and it pushes August over the edge.

“Fuck this,” August growls. Haphazardly setting his drink on a nearby table, he takes off, stalking across the room. When he reaches the two girls, he grabs Luna by her hips and spins her around, tugging her against his chest.

“That’s my cue,” Wesley says, following August’s footsteps until he reaches Jersey.

“I take it from the looks you three are giving the entertainment on the dance floor, your women are out there? I’d prefer to avoid a broken nose, so could you point them out to me so I know to stay away?”

I look over at the new voice, mildly surprised to see Asa Sharpe standing on the other side of Bryan. I heard through the grapevine that he’s staying in Silver Falls for the next few weeks. Being Penelope’s newest high profile client, she must have invited him to the party tonight. Looking him over, I can definitely see Taylor’s fascination with the man. Jet-black hair, dark stubble along his jaw, eyes such a light blue you can see them in the low lighting in the room, and a killer body. I’ve seen him on TV, but in person, he’s hands down one of the hottest male specimens I’ve ever seen. Luckily for me, I already have the hottest male specimen, and the sexiest woman.

Bryan barely spares him a glance as he answers. “The one with the black hair dancing with the redhead is my fiancée.”

“The redhead is off the table,” Jamison says before I get the chance to.

Bryan looks over at his statement, garnering more interest from that than the rock star beside him.

Besides Charlotte, Camila, and Taylor, who had guessed the change in Rayn, Jamison, and my relationship already, we haven’t told anyone. We’re not really keeping it a secret. There’s just been no need to announce it. Apparently, from Bryan’s surprised look, Charlotte hasn’t told him.

“Asa Sharpe.” Asa holds his hand out for us to shake. With each hand he takes, we introduce ourselves. “So the other women are available?”

I look back to the dance floor, searching out Taylor. I find her on the edge of the dance floor, her sister, Penelope, another Adair quad, trying to block her view of Asa. She’s doing a shit job of it, because Taylor keeps stealing glances by moving from side to side, looking around Penelope. Obviously, I can’t hear what they’re saying, but from their body language, I’d say their conversation is tense. Penelope looks like she’s about ready to strangle her sister, while Taylor looks like she might actually deck Penelope to get her out of her way.

My gaze leaves them, looking at the rest of the women who aren’t with a man. Most of who’re left are single, but I’d bet my next paycheck Taylor will scratch the eyes out of any woman who dares to approach Asa. In her eyes, he’s hers.

I look back at Asa. “Most of them are single, but I’d be careful approaching any of them.”

He pauses while bringing his drink to his lips. “Something I should know?”

It’s not my place to warn him about Taylor, so I just shrug before I look back at the dance floor. Harley Adair, you guessed it, the final Adair sister, is now dancing with Rayn and Charlotte, and holy fuck, they’re getting down and dirty.

“She wants to play the tease,” I hear Jamison grumble beside me. He slams back the rest of his drink before dropping it on the same table August set his a few moments ago. “I’ll teach her how it’s really done.” He looks at me. “You coming?”

“Right behind you.”

“So, it’s like that now, huh?”
