Gretchen got antsy because the conversation wasn’t about her, so she interrupted to grab the spotlight again. I was more than happy to give it to her.

Dinner with my family wasn’t as bad as it could have been, so I marked that one in the win column.

Still, I was exhausted when I got home and wished that I had a pet or something to snuggle. Maybe it was time to get a cat or something.

How was dinner? The message came through from Natalie only about ten minutes after I got home. As if she knew or something.

Fine. Your sister was in her usual form. Wyatt looks tired.

I told her what else had gone on, and it was nice to talk to someone.

Remind me to tell you about the time Gretchen shit herself at a water park. I’ve sworn never to talk about it, or she said she’d kill me, so I will deny ever telling you.

There were so many people who would have taken joy in that story. When we’d been in school, Gretchen had not been nice. She’d made Paige miserable, and Paige wasn’t the only one. She’d turned into a mean adult. For some reason, she’d gotten a job as a nurse at the hospital just outside Castleton. I honestly feared for her patients.

I took a shower, and when I came out I saw that Natalie had sent me a bunch of funny pictures and videos. I got in bed with my phone and went through them until I fell asleep.

It was so good to have Natalie back.
