The kiss made me tingle from my head to my toes. A full-body kiss.

Natalie stroked her fingers through my hair as I started sneaking my fingers under the hem of her tank top.

“Mmm, slow down,” she said, her voice shaking a little bit. It was nice to know that I affected her as much as she affected me.

“Sorry,” I said.

“It’s okay. We should probably make some kissing rules, though.”

I nodded and we moved to the couch to have a kissing discussion. Diskission?

“I think, for the time being, kissing should be done standing,” Natalie said.

“Standing,” I repeated as I typed the rule into my phone. “So, no couch kissing?”

“Horizontal kissing leads to other horizontal activities,” she said.

“Good point. Okay, only vertical kissing. How about no touching under the clothes?”

“Yup, Rule Two,” Natalie agreed.

“Hair touching is encouraged, though,” I said.

“That’s not a rule, but your suggestion is noted,” Natalie said.

“Is that it? Two kissing rules?” I asked. It didn’t seem like enough.

“For now, I think,” Natalie said. “Just for now. They’re our rules, so we can modify them whenever we want.”

I saved the list and then looked at her.

“Dinner?”I asked.

“Yes, please,” she said.

Getting up and heating up the casserole was the only thing I could do because if I didn’t, I would have broken both rules immediately after agreeing to them.

Unfortunately, heating up the casserole and setting out plates and pouring drinks didn’t take a whole lot of effort, so once everything was set up and we were waiting for the casserole to heat up, all we had to do was stand in the kitchen and stare at each other.

“Come here,” Natalie said, and I went to her immediately. Our arms went around each other and we kissed in a desperate way, as if we hadn’t kissed for years and were reuniting after being apart.

Natalie’s mouth devoured mine and I devoured her right back.

This kiss had an edge to it, a sharpness. A hint of the desire between us. I’d felt that fire before, but I’d always tried to ignore it, to put it away. To deny it.

Now I was letting that desire free, giving it room to breathe.

It almost scared me, this feeling. This need.

This time, I pulled away from her. Her cheeks were flushed, and she licked her lips. I wanted to lick her lips again.

The timer went off, making us both jump.

“I think I just had a heart attack,” I said, putting my hand on my chest.

“Me too,” she said, laughing under her breath.

I pulled the casserole out and dished it out onto plates that we took into the living room.
