“Because I told you,” I said.

“Because it was obvious,” Natalie said.

“Well, I know nothing,” Sasha said with a laugh. “Who’s Alivia? Is she hot?”

“Very,” I said with a sigh. “Tall and hot and with a jawline that you could carve your heart out of your chest with.”

Everyone was silent after I spoke.

“Wow, that’s intense,” Sasha said.

“It is, which is the problem. I’m not looking for advice!” I put my hand up to stop all of them.

“Can we tell you that we like her, and we like you together? That’s not advice,” Paige said.

“Can we just not do this? I’ve got myself all confused and I need to like, figure it out on my own without a lot of input. Please.”

I looked around, begging.

“Fine,” Paige said with a sigh.

“Can I ask if she has any single gay sisters?” Sasha said, and we all laughed.

“No, her sisters are all married,” I said.

“Dammit,” Sasha said.

I stayed way too late at Paige and Esme’s because I was having such a good time, and finally had to force myself to go home. Even though it was kind of late, I sent Alivia a message anyway.

Make it back from the airport?

She answered almost immediately.

Their flight was late, so I just made it back. My niece is currently asleep on me and anytime I try to move, she wakes up, so I’m stuck like this.

She sent me a picture of her sitting in a chair with a little girl with long dark hair laying across her chest.

It was a punch right to the ovaries. Why was seeing Alivia with her niece so sexy?

I was being silly again.

Looks comfortableI sent back with an emoji of a goofy face.

I’ll surviveshe sent back.

We traded messages for a little while, and even though we were talking, I missed her.

I missed Alivia and I wanted her in my life. Even if she was going to leave and go somewhere else, I knew, without a doubt, that I wanted to be with her until that happened. And just maybe, I could convince her to stay.

Alivia was with her family for the next few days, and I didn’t want to intrude, so I tried to throw myself into work, but the hours when I wasn’t at work were hard. I tried to spend as much time with my friends as possible, so I could try and stop thinking about my intense feelings for Alivia.

“Just talk to her,” they told me over and over.

“I know, I know,” I said. “I just need to find the right time.”
