“I’m on my way.” He hangs up, and I move back toward the conference room.
It isn’t long before there is a knock on the door. I knew it wouldn’t take Linc long to get here because he was in the car when he called me, and the office isn’t far from here.
Damian opens the door and Lincoln walks in along with another man I don’t recognize.
“Mr. Abernathy, if you are being questioned, I brought an attorney for you,” Linc says, and we all smile.
“He came to us, Linc. He is supplying information,” I offer.
“Thank you, Mr. Warren, but I did come here. I’m going to need their help to find out what we can do.” Linc looks between all of us and him.
“Mr. Abernathy, am I free to speak?” When Geoffrey nods, Linc turns to me. “When I ran Guinevere’s name, it alerted our team. She has been a client for years. Well, her uncle has been. I didn’t know because it wasn’t my case. But now we seem to find ourselves on the same team here. We need to get her away from George Chambers before there is another attempt on her life.” He turns back to Geoffrey. “Sir, Bekah was able to find a partial money trail, a hit has been placed on Guinevere’s life.”
“That would be why I made this call.” Geoffrey waves his hand, and the door opens again with an ADA strolling in. “Now that everyone is here, let’s get planning. We only have a few more hours before George’s informants at the courthouse are notified.”
