Page 74 of Double Doms

My stomach begins to complain again. “I think I better get up and feed you, my Greek Goddess.”

He turns around and tosses his long legs over the edge of the bed. “I guess, I’m a little hungry, too. Knowing Stone, he’s going to get all bossy, calling for us.”

On cue, the loud voice of his booms up the stairs. Our eyes connect. “See, I told you.”

No surprise there, and with my robe covering my naked body, I follow Gibson down the back stairs leading to the kitchen.

The table is set with plates, and all the fixings for the Gyros are placed on a tablecloth. He’s made it perfect for Gibs and me. Wine I’d had out breathing is next to the lamb, and our glasses are filled.

“This is wonderful.” I make my way to the man. “You love taking care of us, don’t you?”

It never occurred to me until now, it’s not that he’s just a bossy Dom as we tease. It’s true, but it goes deeper. He has this need to care for us, both of us.

“It’s just a part of me, love.”

“I love this part of you, baby.” I don’t have cute nicknames for these men, as they do, but it doesn’t invalidate what they both mean to me.

“Come, let’s eat.” It doesn’t take long for us to have our plates filled and between the food and conversation, we’re on our third bottle of wine when Stone orders us into the living room. Before we make ourselves at home, Stone goes around closing all my blinds. Wise, because I know Jimmy drives by my house often.

“Sit.” He points to the sectional couch in the middle of my large living room.

Neither man has seen my entire house, which I decorated from the ground up. I’d not kept a single thing when I was married, unless it was Meadow’s or memories I wanted to remember, like pictures and knickknacks.

“Your house is very beautiful, love.”

I adore my home, but I’d not coin it beautiful like Stone’s. It’s lived in and comfortable, and with my vintage boho chic with a hint of both modern farmhouse and contemporary furniture, it’s all me. It’s one avenue I used, to find myself again, making this house our home, and doing it for just me and Meadow.

“Thanks baby. It was what I needed to move on, to have something to pour myself into. But I have a feeling that you don’t want to talk about my house.”

“Well, I actually do. But we’ll get back to that. I want to chat about rules, and I’d rather not cause problems for us.”

Gibson holds his hand up. “I’m okay, I got over it, and you guys were understanding.”

Stone is in between us, and he pulls him in for a kiss to calm him. Gibson is normally so calm, but we’d inadvertently hurt him more than I realized at the time, at the pizza place from hell.

“I know, Teach. But if we do this, for now, we need to put our feelings out there. It’s hard, because of our commitment to our kids, but I think we have to make sure if we inadvertently run into each other, that we’re sensitive to our missing piece.”

I agree with a bob of my head. “Okay, I want you two to give it some thought, in the future, probably after the school year, about moving in together. Teach is very passionate about finishing it out, and I respect that just like I respect Charis’s commitment to Meadow. But I know that my house is too formal.”

I stop him, because at his confession, and knowing he leaps before looking, Gibson’s face is ghost white. “Stone, baby.” I point to Gibson.

And I witness something I don’t see often. Stone is speechless, staring at the other man.
