“If you’re not, you don’t win. It’s part of the sport.”

“I see that. But you’re not an ass with it, you know? You’re kind. You know you’re good, but you don’t shove it in anyone’s face. Hell, you could buy and sell this whole town, but you’re respectful and nice.”

“Having a lot of money doesn’t make someone better than anyone else,” I reply. “It’s convenient. Trust me, I’ve been poor, and I’ve been wealthy, and I don’t plan to go back to poor. But being well-off has its own host of issues. It’s just money.”

“That’s exactly something a wealthy person would say.”

“But it’s true.” I look down at her and feel the punch in the chest that hits me whenever I look at her. I’d spend every last dime to keep her safe and happy. “People enrich a life. Relationships are what make a person rich. Money? Like I said, it’s convenient, but it doesn’t buy what you have here. The tradition, the passion, and the happiness that this property brings you.”

I gesture around us.

“It took generations of hard work to build this. And, well, I think it was an act of God to make the cliffs and the ocean. I’ve never been particularly religious, but I don’t think this is random.”

“I don’t either,” she agrees.

“This got really serious,” I say at last and kiss Luna’s forehead. “Maybe we should clean this up and go inside.”

“Let’s take the pizza and wine in,” she suggests, standing. “We can clean up the rest later.”

She reaches for the black tie and waggles her eyebrows.

“You don’t have to ask me twice.”

Chapter Fourteen

Luna

“It’s your fault.” I crook my finger at Wolfe as he closes the front door behind him and sets the pizza and wine on the kitchen counter. “You’re the one who brought up the whole blindfold thing.”

“I had no idea it would get this kind of response.” He slowly walks toward me as if he’s stalking his prey. And trust me when I say I’m perfectly delighted to be this man’s target.

Bring. It. On.

As he slowly walks toward me, I move backward in the direction of my bedroom, keeping just out of his reach.

And when he extends his hand, I turn and run for the door, excitement and fun coursing through me.

Before I reach the bed, Wolfe picks me up from behind and lays me down on the mattress, then quickly covers me so he has me trapped under his long, lean body.

“You think you can run away from me?” he asks as he drags his nose up the side of my neck. He’s teasing me, and I absolutely love it.

“I like playing with you,” I breathe and arch my neck when he grips my skin in his teeth. “It’s fun.”

“Hmm.” He takes the tie out of my hand, but he doesn’t place it over my eyes. “I’m not going to blindfold you because I want to see your eyes when I do to you what I have planned.”

I feel those eyes widen.

“But I do want to tie your hands to the headboard. Is that okay?”

“Hell, yes, it’s okay.”

He snickers and then has to rest his forehead on my shoulder as he laughs. “Why didn’t I know that you have a kinky side?”

“You never asked. And besides, I didn’t know either. It’s not that kinky.”

His eyes narrow on me now. “And what would you consider more kinky?”

“Oh, you know, whips and toys and people watching. That sort of thing.”

He finishes tying my hands above me. It’s not so tight that I can’t move, but I can’t pull them away.

And then he plants his lips just under my ear and whispers, “No one’s ever going to watch us, sweetheart. No one. I’m way too possessive of you, in every way, to ever share you like that.”

“Good.” I have to swallow hard. “Same goes.”

“But if you want to play with other stuff, we can explore those things. Together. But for today, bondage it is.”

I grin in anticipation and bite my lower lip as Wolfe works my jeans down my legs and then does the same with my panties.

But before he tosses them onto the floor, he smells them. Then throws them over his shoulder.

“You liked that.”

I don’t say anything as he pushes my shirt up under my chin and unfastens my bra. I’m lying mostly bare before him, and he eats me alive with his gaze.

Wolfe Conrad wants me. That’s not something I ever have to wonder about.

“You undo me,” he says softly, dragging his hands down my torso to my hips. “You’re gorgeous, in every way. Even when you’re biting my head off over the dishwasher.”

“Sorry.” I cringe, but he just shakes his head and chuckles.

“No. Even when you’re frustrated or sad or worried, you’re so damn beautiful, Luna. I can’t take my eyes off you, and when you’re like this?”
