Not gonna lie, this is an odd approach to getting me to talk, especially since I would have talked anyway, but I don’t try and fight it. Instead, I press down on his face.

I feel his lips pull into a smile before his tongue assaults me, sliding up and down, his grip tightening as he pulls me against his mouth.

“Talk,” he murmurs against my skin, sending shockwaves up through my spine.

I gasp, trying to control my breath. “I…I don’t know much else. All I know is that Salainen…she…she is the…Kaaos bringer. The bad one…and she looks like me. But maybe it’s Louhi pretending to be me? I don’t know.”

He sucks my clit in between his lips, then swirls his tongue around. I’m almost coming when he pulls his head back. I try to push down in desperation but he’s holding me up.

“And you’ve never heard of her before? You’ve never heard of this prophecy?”

His beard is tickling me and I shift, wanting his tongue back in place. My abs are getting quite the workout, keeping me upright on him, trying to maneuver.

“No. No, not at all. I swear to you, I had never heard of the prophecies before this, and I wanted to tell you, but…”

“But?”

Shit. I don’t want to rat Raila out, tell him that she said not to tell him. But I can’t lie either. Not the way he’s breathing on me. I’m so close to coming already, which means I’m close to losing my thought process. “I wanted to ask Vipunen first. I didn’t want to worry you.”

That was the truth.

He grunts and then pulls my hips back down until I’m crushing his face again. He licks up into me, exploring me with deft precision.

“Oh God!” I cry out, bucking against his mouth.

Your God. I can’t hear what he says as he eats me out, but I know it all the same.

I come hard again, so hard that I fear I might be choking him. My hips pop against his jaw, grinding down, and he grips me so hard that I know I’ll have bruises all around my thighs tomorrow. He is relentless.

I have relented.

I nearly collapse forward but my back arches and my head goes back, heart hammering in my chest, in my throat, in my jaw.

“Not. That. I’m. Complaining,” I say, pausing between each word to catch my breath. “But. You sure have a way of getting me to talk.”

“I know,” he says, adjusting himself below me.

“I was going to tell you anyway.”

“You can’t lie when I’m making you come,” he says, looking awfully proud of himself. “Think of it as a lie detector test. I found that out in the Crystal Caves. Thought maybe it was the water that made you so honest, but I think it’s just you being a greedy little thing.”

While I hate the idea that I did say something honest and vulnerable to him yesterday, I can’t even be annoyed at him. At the moment, anyway. I’m sure I will later when the orgasms subside.

“I wouldn’t lie to you,” I tell him. I stare down at his mesmerizing eyes, eyes that still don’t trust me. “You’re right when you said that you are my king, just as I am your queen. We are in this together. I don’t want these other two prophecies to come true. I want us to be as prepared for them as possible, though, to figure out what to do next, if anything. Maybe this changes nothing.”

“You know it changes everything.” He looks so grim between my legs, it’s almost comical. “But we can’t do anything about it until I get more information. I’ll find out more.”

“And you’ll tell me what you find out,” I demand. “I’m part of this, too.”

He says nothing but somewhere in his expression I see him concede.

I exhale loudly, my muscles starting to cramp up from my position. Death, it seems, is perfectly comfortable with me on him like this.

I climb off his face then collapse fully on the bed. I make a feeble attempt to cover myself up with the sheets but fail. I’m spent.

Death wipes his mouth and gets up. I lie back and stare at the black canopy above the bed, waiting for my heart to slow down.

I almost drift off when I feel the bed sink from his weight.

“This is for you,” he says gruffly.

I roll my head to the side and see him sitting beside me, a selenite knife in his hand.

Oh my god!

I sit right up, reaching for it.

He places it in my hand and I make a fist around the smooth, cool handle, holding it tight.

“Where did you find this?” I ask, turning it around.

“I didn’t find it,” he says. He clears his throat and averts his eyes. “I made it. For you.”

My stomach flips with butterflies. I swallow hard, heart beating fast again. “You made it for me? How?”
