“Want to dance?” The voice came from behind him. He turned to see Beth standing there, none of her usual energy surrounding her. He took her hand and led her to the dance floor.

“Long week?” he asked as he settled a hand on her waist. He still scanned the room in hopes that maybe he’d see Taran, but he was starting to believe Nick was right and she’d left. Without even a goodbye—that kind of sucked. Beth had been talking, and he wasn’t really listening.

“But with the wedding over, the article done, and everyone going back home soon, it should be quiet,” she finished.

“Taran’s article is done?” he asked, and Beth rolled her eyes.

“Yip. She dropped it off two days ago. She isn’t sending it in until after the draft, though, because it talks about Seattle.”

He simply looked at her not asking aloud.

“I like it. Don’t make fun though. He’s starting to get annoyed with the guys.”

Corey wondered what he could mock Clayton about. But he wasn’t worried about the article. If Beth approved, then it was fine. She was fiercely protective of Clayton.

But the excitement sparked in his stomach at the knowledge that the article was finished. His plan could move to the next step.
