She was a bit taken aback when she saw a bike approach her, and a moment later, she knew the guy was her date. He stopped in front of her and opened the visor on the helmet. “Ready to go?”

“Umm…” she looked around. “On a bike?”

He shrugged and reached for the passenger helmet. “This is yours.”

She didn’t know how to tell him that riding a bike was super dangerous. “Is it safe?”

He handed her the helmet. “I got you. Let’s go. I need to show you this super cool lighthouse.”

“I… I’ve never ridden on a bike.” She was still apprehensive about a two-wheel vehicle.

He chuckled. “It’s a good thing I know how to.”

She could only laugh in response. “Okay, let’s do this, but if I get scared, you should slow down a lot.”

“Sure, I got you.” He directed her on how to sit and what to hold onto to be safe as if he could sense her apprehension.

A short ride later, he pointed to a lighthouse at a distance, and she was amazed at the beautiful view. The guy definitely had good taste, if not fancy, classy taste. And she liked that about him.

Minutes later, he pulled the bike off the road and toward a small shack. The sign indicated they sold a bit of everything—tacos, hot dogs, burgers, and the list went on. “This is us.”

She hopped off the bike, took off her helmet, and handed it to him. “That wasn’t too bad.”

“Get used to it. It’s how we cool kids roll at Simha.” He winked, making her smile.

“There you go again, don’t be too humble.” She could not resist throwing darts at him.

He nodded. “I try but can’t be any other way.” He gestured her toward the shack and added, “We can put in the order and go tour the lighthouse.”

Her eyes widened in surprise. “Oh my, that’s amazing.”

“Yeah, I know, I’m amazing. Let’s go.”

Cocky for sure but cute too.

She could only roll her eyes and smile. It surprised her how at ease she was around him, and that was only because of how chilled he was. “I can’t wait for the lighthouse tour.”

“I figured you’d like that.”

She followed him toward the entrance of what looked like an old lighthouse with an interesting structure. Something started to go off in her mind.

Could she do a project on modern lighthouse architecture?

“What’s that look for?” he asked like he could read her mind.

Not wanting to bore him with her project, she shook her head and followed him up the stairs. “I can’t wait to see the view from up there.”

“It’s not too shabby.” He chuckled.

“So you’re gonna tell me what the real story is behind your interesting accessory?” She could spot it under the sleeve of his T-shirt as he went up a set of spiral stairs.

“I’ve had it on for so long, I forget I have it.” He almost brushed off the topic, and she debated if she should inquire further.

Her curiosity would not give up. “Is it like a family heirloom?”

He shook his head, smiling. “More like a bad-boy tag.”

“Huh?” She was sure he was kidding. “Really?”
