Before he could say anything, his phone buzzed. “Okay, the next challenge is for each of us to buy something for each other, something romantic.” He scrunched his nose.

She thought for a moment and dragged him out of the store. “This is turning out to be too easy. We are so winning this game.”

“Don’t be too confident, Varma. This party is just about to go wild.”

“Really? How wild can it get from going shopping for something at the beach to anything else? In what sense is this wild?”

The light was hitting her directly in the eyes, and there was a sound of water at a distance. Who left the blinds open, and why was the water running in her bathroom? She came out of her slumber with those thoughts, but she was too comfortable to move to close the blinds and turn off the shower or whatever was running.

She had never woken up feeling the way she did and tried to go back to sleep, pulling the sheets over her face, but it was stuck. She tugged on it in her sleep, and it finally came loose, and at the same time, she heard a groan in her ear.

It was an unfamiliar groan, and that’s when she felt the hot breath on her cheek as she lay on her side. She suddenly became aware of the hard body plastered to her back, the heavy arm that held her securely, and the arm on which her head was resting. And something was digging into her back.

A pang of fear gripped her when she opened her eyes and saw the black thread that was wrapped on the arm that was laid over her.

Holy crap! It was her rival. Why the heck was she sleeping next to him?

Just as she was processing that fact, she got another shock when she realized the bright light was the rising sun and the sound of the water was from the ocean itself. Her heart dropped when she saw she was lying on the beach in clothes she didn’t recognize.

She sat up abruptly, a gasp escaping her as she turned to look at the guy sleeping next to her. He was bare chested and wearing the jeans he had on the night before. Draped over him like a blanket was her dress. She still had her leggings and the crop top under the T-shirt she was wearing—it was his T-shirt.

What the heck happened last night?

Like she had to ask herself that question, all the memories came crashing down. It was a wild night, and she hated to accept that she actually had fun with him. Whether it was the handcuff game that soon got out of hand or the couple games they played after, she remembered feeling like she was his real girlfriend.

Her cheeks heated up when she remembered the way he had proposed to her as a part of a challenge, carried her over his shoulder when she said she could not walk anymore, and the time they had to take a dip in the water.

Her body stiffened when she remembered the way he had looked at her and kissed her. Her eyes widened.

Oh my God, he kissed me. Or did she kiss him again?

The details were fuzzy. She looked at him, a smile forming on her face remembering how he had carried her from the water onto the sand and took off her dress and slipped on his T-shirt. She was jittery from the cold, and he held her to him, and that did the trick. The last task was for them to spend the night at the beach, and she looked around and saw no other couples were around.

She let out a scream and said, “We won! I’m done with you, Rana Simha.” She stood up splashing sand over him.

He blinked and opened one eye. “What’s gotten into you?”

“Wake up, sleepyhead.” She let out a laugh and added, “We won the game! There is no one else here.”

He sat up dusting off the sand from his chest and back. “We had won the game after the fifth round, and like you had nothing else to do, wanted to keep playing.”

“Why not?” She threw her hands up. “It was so much fun, and you said our deal is off if we win, and we did. Officially off.”

He looked at her for a long moment. “Why is our deal off? I didn’t kiss you.”

“Huh?” She was taken aback to say anything else immediately. “But… but you said—”

He interjected, “What exactly did I say?”

She thought for a moment, anger simmering at the cocky grin on his face. He had said she didn’t need to put on the act as his girlfriend. That only meant she was off the hook with the deal. “Then what the eff does it mean that I don’t need to put on an act as your girlfriend?”

He chuckled in response. “After everything we did last night, you are technically my girlfriend. No more acting required. You graduated with flyin’ colors.”

“What shit did you smoke or drink last night?” She was about to implode with anger.

He shook his head. “I only ate and drank what you fed me with your own hands last night. Remember?”
