But how to find the guy? And how dare he blackmail Ramya?

*****

Nami wasn’t left with a lot of options to deal with Ramya’s situation. Her cousin was very clear about not letting the campus authorities know, one because she was worried the video would leak and two because they didn’t know who to report on. Their parents would be livid if they found out, but Nami agreed with Ramya that this is not the right time. Plus, she wanted to be the one to tell her parents.

After considering a lot of options, Nami reached out to Ava, a medical student she had met at the welcome party. The videos of Ramya going viral was a concern, but her health was the most important. She was weak and worried sick about having something transmitted from the night she spent with the bastard.

Ava was extremely helpful in getting the tests scheduled and also reached out to the student council president and set up a meeting. She was asked to meet Abhi to get help to prevent the videos from being leaked.

Nami and Ava went to meet Abhi at a park close to the rugby stadium. Ava was very specific with Abhi to keep it discrete, and she was glad for the girl’s consideration. The moment they entered the park area, she stopped short.

It was Rana! And he was waiting with Abhi.

Nami’s step faltered, and she stopped short. He had seen her at the same time, and even from a distance, she could see his expression turn angry. She had not seen him for more than a few minutes at a time after the masquerade, and there he was, looking like he wanted to rip her face off.

Why was he so angry, anyway? Because she got a reaction out of him when they danced together?

She ignored him and walked to Abhi with Ava. Nami could tell there was something going on between Ava and Abhi from how he looked at her. There was a softness in his eyes, a complete contrast to the look in his cousin, Rana’s eyes.

“How can we help?” Abhi asked, but Nami was distracted by the way Rana was looking at her. She debated how much detail she should share and stayed silent.

“Don’t waste our time.” Rana sounded impatient as he warned her.

“Rana,” Abhi thankfully silenced him.

“I’m here to report…” Nami felt the pain just to think about what her cousin was going through. “My cousin, Ramya, she was drugged during a party, and she… she can’t remember anything from that night, but…”

Nami saw the shift in Rana’s manner before she saw how Abhi was affected by the information. From her peripheral view, she saw Rana fist his hand.

“Whose party was it?” Abhi asked.

Nami shook her head. “Ramya would not tell me who those guys are. She doesn’t want to report it to the campus police or the management because her parents will pull her out of the college.”

“What’s the guarantee you are not lying and making up stories?” Rana’s voice snapped, and Nami was shocked by his ridiculous outburst. She had to stop herself from yelling back.

Abhi was quick to respond. “Rana. Leave.” He was angry at his cousin.

Rana didn’t argue, but Nami felt the scorching heat from his death stare before he turned away and left the place. Abhi stayed silent for a long moment. “I believe you, and if you give me a few more details of that party, I’ll get to the bottom of this.”

Nami nodded. “I don’t think I can get Ramya to talk to anyone. She is being blackmailed.”

“Blackmailed?” Ava was shocked as Nami had not mentioned it earlier.

Nami nodded angrily. “The guy has pictures and videos of her from that night. She is worried he will leak it out on social media.”

Both Ava and Abhi fell silent like they could not believe this happened at Simha. They discussed a few different ways to handle the situation, but they needed Ramya to tell them whose party it was or share the identity of the guy who could be blackmailing her.

She walked away from the couple after promising to follow up with them when she gets some details from Ramya. Lost in thought, she didn’t notice Rana was waiting for her to one side of the pathway. He still looked angry but seemed to have cooled down a bit.

Nami was debating if she should walk past him or stop. The next moment, he stepped in front of her, not giving her a choice. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

She was taken aback by the question. Was that why he was so angry? She didn’t want to argue or lie to him about why she didn’t reach out to him. “I reached out to Ava for medical help.”

He nodded. “How is Ramya handling this?”

She shook her head. “Bad. She has been miserable for the past two weeks, and I only found out today.” She swallowed a sob.

He narrowed his eyes at her. “How can you not have checked on her for two long weeks?”
