ChapterTwenty-Six

THEO

Fuck.

That was not supposed to happen.

I only wanted to talk to her, but when I saw her, the lust in her eyes when she looked at me, I couldn’t help myself. I had my dick out and inside of her before I even knew what was happening.

She felt so good in my arms, wrapped around my dick. My memories of us together like that did not serve me justice. I’ve missed her so much. And not even just the sex—although that is amazing—but being around her. Holding her.

I am man enough to admit that I moved my stalker tendencies up a level. I followed my piccola and her sister to that pizza place. I watched her for an hour as she talked to Aria. When Thalia got up, I took my chance and found a back entrance into the restaurant, allowing me to keep hidden so her shadow didn’t see me. It worked out perfectly. There were three doors in the hallway. One the men’s bathroom, one the kitchen and the one I guessed Thalia had entered: the women’s bathroom.

I stood at the door, preparing myself to open it and hopefully find only Thalia inside, when it was pulled open. My piccola’s eyes went wide and before she could say anything, I shoved her inside before her shadow saw me. I hadn’t planned on fucking her against that wall, I wanted our first time together again to be special, but it happened all the same. Something went off inside me when I entered her. My mind screamed that I was home. I know with everything in me that I could search earth and other planets, and I would never find anything that compares to how she makes me feel.

Pulling up to my apartment building on the showground, I grab my pizza and hop out of my rental. I’m just about to step into the lobby, only to stop when my name is called. I know who it is without turning around. His deep drawl screams authority and power.

“Mr. Rhodes?”

I hate it when he calls me that. It makes me sound like an old man. Why can’t he just call me Theo like I ask?

I spin to face him. He stands by a blacked-out SUV, arms crossed over his chest. Alone, which shocks me. Normally he would have a guard by his side.

“Mr. Maxwell,” I greet. I haven’t seen this man since the day my world came crumbling down. The day I admitted to my relationship with his daughter, only for Mel to turn up and ruin everything.

He steps towards me, running a hand through his salt and pepper specked hair. “Is there somewhere private we can talk?”

I jerk my head towards the building. “Sure. My apartment is just up there.”

He frowns. “You are staying in the same building as Thalia.” It’s not a question. He knows full well his daughter is staying in this building.

“Yeah.” No point in lying. I will never lie when it comes to my feelings or anything to do with my piccola, ever again.

A look of annoyance flashes in his eyes. “Very well. Lead the way.”

I turn on my heel and make my way to the lobby. Once inside, we step into the elevator. I hit the button for my floor. In the closed space I’m fully aware that I still smell of Thalia. Still have her juices on my cock. I should feel bad. I don’t.

Silence descends. It would be uncomfortable if I was seeking this man’s approval. Sure, it would be nice to have it. But I don’t need it. He won’t stop me from taking back what’s mine.

The elevator comes to a stop, the door opens in the next second, and we step out. I move towards my door, my hand going to my pants pocket to fish out the electronic key card. Inserting it, I push open the door and wave Christian inside. He strides in and stands in the middle, taking in his surroundings. I’m sure he has seen where Thalia is staying, and I’m also sure this place is a mirror image of her apartment. It’s the way most apartment buildings work.

Popping my pizza box on the counter, I turn to face him. “Would you like something to drink?”

“No, no. This won’t take long.” He drops down on the couch before facing me. I see the concern on his face. He’s just a father worried about his daughter. I can respect that. I pull out one of the stools at the counter and sit, waiting for him to say what he came her for. It doesn’t take long. “Are you here because of my daughter?” he gets straight to the point.

“Yes,” I say, my voice calm and collected. I’m going with honesty because surely, he will appreciate that more than me lying.

He nods and blows out a breath. “That’s what I was afraid of.” He stands and starts pacing. “Do you have any idea what Thalia went through when everything came to light? When she left Wellington?”

I flinch at the reminder because I do know. I went through it too. “I regret that every day of my life, Christian and it won’t happen again. That is a promise.”

“How can you promise that? What happened to your wife? Your child?” he snaps.

“I have spoken to Thalia and explained everything. I mean no disrespect, Christian, but it really is none of your business. As a courtesy towards you, I will tell you that what Melody claimed that day was not the truth. The baby is not mine. Also, out of respect for you because I love your daughter, I will tell you now that there is nothing orno oneon this earth, in this universe, that will stop me from going after Thalia. I love her. With everything I am and everything I will ever be. I know our history is not great, but I want to rectify that. Want to make it right. She is it for me. I will do what it takes to show her that.” He looks at me in what can only be described as shock. Yes, I probably went a bit overboard, but I will do anything and everything for my piccola.

His eyes narrow, he straightens as his face turns serious. “I like to think I’m a fair man Mr. Rhodes.”

I cut him off with a hand. “Theo, please.”
