And here we though the Maxwells were squeaky clean, the darlings of America. Seems the little Maxwell wants to ruin that “holier than thou” image they have going on.

I can’t breathe.

What the actual fuck?

Melody must have released this. We can’t even go after her because she never signed an NDA.

Tears fill my eyes as everything comes crashing down around me. My head snaps up when arms surround me, and someone calls my name. My father turns me in my seat to face him. He cups my face.

“Sweetheart, it’s okay. Breath.”

I shake my head frantically. “I’ve ruined our reputation. The Maxwell name,” I choke out.

My mama drops down beside me. Her eyes soft. “Bambina, it’s okay. We can have this redacted and turned around to fit our narrative however we want. Whilst some of it might be true, not all of it is. We’ve got you,” her voice is so soft, so comforting that a sob bursts free. How can my parents be so calm when an article like that is out in the world?

“So, it’s true? You’re dating that man?” my brother snaps.

“Evan, stop. Your sister cannot help who she fell in love with,” Mama scolds him. He pushes out of his seat and paces. Valentina gets up and tries to calm him. “I knew it. I asked you not long after you started there if anything was going on and you said no. You lied.”

I sniffle. “I didn’t lie. Nothing was going on with us then.”

“Jesus, Thalia, the man is old enough to be your father. Too old for you,” He growls.

“Evan,” my father grits. “If I can accept it, so can you.”

My brother huffs out a laugh but its humorous. “You knew? And you’re okay with this?” he asks incredulously.

“I did. And whilst being okay with this is... probably not the right statement, I can see that they love each other. I have supported all of you since you were born. I am not about to stop now because Thalia is dating someone I don’t necessarily agree with,” my father states.

Evan thrusts a hand through his hair. He tugs the strands. “This is a PR disaster. We need to squash this as soon as possible.” He glances at me, and I grimace. His eyes soften. Closing the distance between us, he drops to my free side. “I’m sorry, sis, I shouldn’t have said that. Our priority is you. We will rectify this.”

I cry harder at the support my family is giving me right now even though I don’t deserve it. Evan is right, this is a PR disaster especially after what he just talked about with my father. I never wanted to run our name through the mud, and now it’s out of my control. All because of Melody.

After all she’s done, she’s still not satisfied.

It’s time to come clean about everything if we want to spin this in my favor. I’m not condoning what I did, because I did steal another woman’s man. But Mel isn’t innocent.

It’s time people saw that.
