When his eyes move to me, I see the remorse in them. “It’s okay, Thalia. Everything will be fine now. They’re going to let you go...” he trails off, and if it’s possible I see the heartbreak, the torment in his eyes. He moves towards me, shoving the men away from me. Grabbing my arms, he crouches to my level. “Listen to me. I have to go. I don’t want you to mention my being here to Aria. It will only make things harder for her.”

“What is going on, Bishop?” My lip trembles. I’m in shock. Out of all the people that could have been involved with my being taken, Bishop, the man my sister fell in love with, is the last person I expected.

He shakes his head. “Nothing you need to concern yourself with. I want you to tell Aria I love her, but nothing else...”

He is cut off by Leo. “Enough, Xander. Let’s get her out of here before I change my mind.”

Xander?

What the fuck is going on right now?

I stare at Bishop or Xander, or whatever the hell he is called, frowning when I see the anguish and heartbreak on his face. I want to cry. There has always been something mysterious about him. But now I’m even more intrigued. Before I can ask any questions, he speaks.

“Tell Aria that I love her. Look after her for me,” he whispers, his head dropping in defeat as I’m dragged from the room, out of the house and shoved into a vehicle.

I keep quiet as we drive and not twenty minutes later, I recognize the area. We’re not far from where my parents are staying. But instead of driving me there, they pull off on a side road. I’m pulled out of the car and left there as they drive away.

I stare after them in shock.

And then I start crying.
