“Wow. Okay. So, while the moment may have been nice, it meant nothing?”

“Simon, we just can’t blur the lines between professional and personal. That is all I’m saying.” She walks over to the driver’s side door, gets in the car, and starts it up. “You guys have sound check at five. Please don’t be late.” She reverses out of the parking space and takes off; I’m sure heading home, or maybe to Brianna’s to get ready for tonight.

One thing I am sure of is she’s left me standing with all my emotions and feelings on the table, exposed and holding my proverbial dick in my hand for the world to see. I don’t buy her reason one bit. I know she felt something, something deep. That wasn’t an ordinary peck on the lips, it was earth-shattering, like two lovers meeting and embarking on their destiny. Maybe that’s what it meant to me. Yet still, I can’t help but think it meant something to her too.

“Yo, bro, you coming?” Sebastian yells from the window of our limousine.

“Not in the way I had hoped.” I reply.

“You sick bastard. Get your ass in here so we can go crash before sound check.”

The door to the limo opens and I climb in, joining the other misfits, and we head home for a little R and R.

I look out of the window at the passing scenery, taking notice of the things that come into view. Like the couple rollerblading, or the couple in the car next to us; the woman feeding her partner some fries. Funny how I’ve never looked at others and how they behave in their normal day-to-day routine until now. The feelings I have for Myka have me wanting more than a warm pussy to stick my dick into, even though I haven’t slept with her. This must be what most people strive for or desire in a romantic partnership. Since I’ve never had one to speak of that wasn't anything but puppy love, I can’t honestly say what this is I’m feeling.

“Simon, what the fuck are you looking out the window for? You haven’t said two fucking words. Is everything okay?”

I contemplate letting my brother and mates know what I’m thinking and what’s got my mind so preoccupied but decide against it and change the subject.

“This is turning out to be our biggest release yet. I’m just taken aback a little on how things turned around so quickly.”

“Yeah. On the plane, Myka was showing me the trajectory of our sales and while Toxic did well, we’re on target to surpass those numbers. And that’s just with the pre-orders,” Andy comments.

“Oh, you got a thing for Myka?” I ask, trying to see where his head is.

“No. Are you kidding me bro? She just got out of a relationship, and it would be wrong to go after her when she is vulnerable. Only a pig would do that.”

His words sting even though they ring true. I can’t help but wonder if on some level I was taking advantage of her fragile state. Maybe that was why she was saying we can’t rehash that one moment. I may be in my head a bit about this, but I swear it’s different.

“Who’s catering the party tonight?” Mikey asks.

“Oh, I didn’t get a chance to get a caterer. Actually, I didn’t order any of the things I need.”

“Bloody hell, bro. What has gotten into you? You’re normally on top of this event. The last week you’ve been lame,” Bastian observes.

“Come to think of it, you’ve been like this since that one model you were linked to announced her engagement to that actor guy.”

“What are you talking about, Stix?”

“Yeah. At the meeting before we left. Lenny kept calling to you and you were spaced-out. You were thinking about her, weren’t you?”

I can’t let them know Alyssa is the furthest thing from my mind since we ended our relationship over a year ago, but they can’t know the truth either. “No, I wasn’t, honestly. I was thinking about the brunette with the red lips and how I didn’t get her number. I could use a friend after a long flight schedule.”

They laugh hysterically and I force out a laugh as a disguise.

In a period of one month, I’ve gone from heavy drinking, drugs, and whoring to being hopelessly crazy about a woman who doesn’t reciprocate the same feelings and lying to my mates and brother about the whole thing.

MYKA

The ringing of the phone brings me away from my much-wanted and needed sleep.

“What is it, Brianna?”

“Eew. Rude much? I just wanted to see how my bestie is doing after her trip across the pond.”

“I’m trying to sleep before the show tonight.”
