Her heart spun, and then her gaze went to her pajamas, and she patted her makeup free face. Ugh. Didn’t men know romancing required warning? Her insides danced, and with the loving way he was looking at her, she didn’t care about her clothing or lack of cosmetics. “Mikah.”

He held out his hand.

Piper reached out and led him inside. The rightness shuddered through her. She led him to the living room, but her family was on the patio looking in at them. They needed privacy. She waved, pivoted, and took him up to her room.

His masculine self in the pink-and-gold room looked out of place, but he sat in her side chair and tugged her onto his lap.

She sank against his strength. It didn’t matter where they were, being with him felt right.

Mikah handed her the present with a warm expression that made her heart flutter.

Piper looked inside the tissue paper. A folded number sixty-five jersey lay inside. That was a pretty big message for a guy like him. “Love it.” Piper cupped his face and kissed him. “I can’t believe you left the game for me. That was…epic, and meaningful, and sweet.”

“I’m in love with you, Piper.” Mikah ran his hand over her arm. “You’re the one.”

Oh, wow, even bigger message. Her heart slammed, and then the rhythm settled to calm happiness. “I love you too.” She closed her eyes. There was so much more to say. “I’m so sorry about that pregnancy stick. I knew the move was petty, and wrong. I did it anyway and felt horrible.”

“I’m sorry I left you at Wednesday’s dinner instead of listening.”

“No, I understand.”

Mikah shook his head. “That was not okay.”

“I’ll forgive you, if you forgive me.”

“It’s in the past.” His voice was sincere.

There was more he had to know. “Did you hear us in the stands? Calista bought 70 percent of the Snowers. Dahlia and I are named on the purchase.” She held her breath, her eyes wide.

“That’s news.” Mikah tucked her hair behind her ear. “Sounds better than the Applebaums.” He kissed her neck, and a shiver went through her. “The team’s not the same without you minding our purity.” He cuddled her closer.

Piper giggled. “I’m only interested in yours.” Laughter, sex, love, he was giving her all of them, the whole package.

Mikah slid his left arm under her thighs and braced her back with his other as he rose in a powerful, easy gesture. He laid her on her pink comforter and followed her down, staring into her eyes with a mix of love and desire.

Piper stroked his arms. Their vulnerability heightened her senses in a way she hadn’t expected. She was his. He was hers.

Mikah toyed with the top button on her pajama top and slipped it free. “I want to see you in my jersey.” He undid the next button.

“What’s that mean?” Piper squeezed his shoulders in affectionate appreciation and asked the question without fear. “Through the holidays? For the rest of the season?”

Mikah let go of her buttons and placed her hand over his chest. His heart shined in his cobalt eyes. “For you and me, love doesn’t have an end date.”
