Mikah glided his hand down her body, circling her nipple and down to her clit. More circles, and with a final thrust of his hips, he was fully inside her.

Fullness, connection. Molasses in her veins pulsing, tensing, hiking her need to an outrageous level.

Mikah eased his body in and out of hers, timing his caresses with his thrusts.

Desire tightened inside her, spiraling, pulling her under. They kissed, grabbed, and caressed. They were movement and light and sensation. His pumping intensified. Then her climax burst over her, causing a shining ecstasy to glow from the inside of her body out. “Mikah.”

Mikah joined her, stiffening, pleasure on his face. “Piper.”

Piper lay boneless and blissful. Erotic throbs echoed through her body.

Mikah cuddled her to his warmth, then he tugged the comforter over them, and she fell asleep in his arms, content, satisfied and happy.

Mikah awakened her by kissing her neck and stroking his fingertips from her shoulder to her lips. Wicked thrills pattered through her.

“Stay the week.” His voice was husky and needy.

Piper shifted in reaction to the pleasurable sensations, and rolled against him in a slow, sensual gesture.

He moaned and shuddered.

She grinned, loving his reaction. “I already promised you the weekend, handsome.”

“A week would be better.”

What was going on? Piper stilled. She didn’t want to spoil the moment, but she didn’t want him to be caught in this cocoon of endorphins and mislead her. “Wednesday is Dahlia’s pre-Thanksgiving party.”

“Stay until then.”

Contrarily, the limit hurt, just a little, but she’d known this going in. She wasn’t going to waste their time together messing up this memory. “I’d love to.” She parted her thighs, which shifted him into a new erotic position. Electricity shot through her.

They both gasped.

Tuesday night, Piper stepped out of the shower, dried off, and put her cocktail dress back on with a grimace. She’d been wearing Mikah’s shirts since Saturday and had skipped her Monday and Tuesday classes while he’d skipped practice. No regrets.

Maybe knowing they were over with a set holiday deadline was better than “didn’t see it coming.” She stirred up a smile, though she knew it didn’t reach her eyes, and padded barefoot into the living room. Piper gestured at her dress. “I need to go home.”

Mikah stared at her from the couch, wearing a fresh t-shirt, jeans, and a brooding expression. “We said Wednesday.”

“I can’t wear this to the pre-Thanksgiving gala. For one thing, I just wore it to a work party. For another, Dahlia bought me a very pretty Thanksgiving dress to wear to her party, and I don’t want to be ungrateful.”

He frowned.

Piper grinned at his moody desire to keep her longer. “And I bought very naughty lingerie to wear underneath.” Piper lifted her keys from the end table. She wasn’t pleased to be going home either but was doing her best to keep the moment light, so she wouldn’t cry at the thought of not experiencing this connection with him again.

“What does it mean for us? If we go to the party together. From here.”

Piper stilled. Okay, they weren’t in the throes of passion. They were dressed. She didn’t know how to answer. It meant they were dating into the holidays. That their friends and family would see them together. That whatever it was that held him back from a relationship would take a dent. Piper clasped her hands together. She wanted to be sensibly truthful, but a wiggling tiny hope wanted a shot too. She kept her explanation simple, for his sake. “I suppose it means I pick up my clothes. You zip me into the dress tomorrow. And when we return, you unzip me out of it.”

Mikah gave a slow smile. “I’d like that.”

That smile. Piper relished the beam a moment. “Me too.” She took a breath. “Thanksgiving morning, I’ll go to my grandparents. You spend time with your family.” She’d spell out the potential hazards. “If your parents are staying here, it means they’ll realize we’re sharing a room.”

Mikah nodded. “Let’s do that.”
